The little boy snuggled with the leopard, deep in the forest. It wasn't a ferocious beast of an animal like the other leopards. It was gentle, it was loving, it was friendly. It was different. It wasn't like the other leopards, just like the boy wasn't like the other boys. Or men. Or women. Or anyone.

The leopard was his only friend, and he was the leopards's only friend. Without the other, neither would have a thing.

The boy pat the animal on its belly, and it let out a low guttural growl of pleasure, turning on its back. The creature's lips turned into what almost looked to be like a smile.

"We'll show them one day," the boy uttered in the language of the tribe. "We'll show them who the great one really is."

And it was true. They were wrong. They were wrong, and he was going to make sure they knew.

He was going to show them.

He cuddled up to the leopard and fell asleep next to him.
