Frank was changing Gerard's clothes. They'd moved him home after Gerard constantly asked to go home.

"I'm sorry." Gerard whispered.

"Why?" Frank gently pulled his thin, delicate arm through the sleeve of the hoodie.

"'Cause I'm dying." Gerard's soft voice cracked. "After I'm gone, you're going to be hurting so much more than I ever have. For that, I'm sorry."

"Aw, babe." Frank stopped, just holding Gerard to his chest. "It'll hurt, but I'm so glad that I got to love you."

Gerard started to cry. It started out with a sniff, but then he was sobbing. "I don't wanna die."

Frank just rocked slowly, applying a kiss to the top of his head. "I love you. I love you more than I can ever love anyone else."

"I love you." Gerard sniffed.

Gerard grew too weak to stand onstage. He had to sit on a chair.

So on the night of one of their last performances, Gerard wore his bright red wig (they hadn't stopped chemo yet) and his makeup and put on a smile.

Frank found him laying on the floor of the dressing room.

"Babe, what happened?" He gasped.

"Tripped." Gerard managed.

"Aw, c'mere." He helped his husband stand, holding him up as they walked onstage with the rest of the band.

They played an awesome set that day, minus Gerard forgetting a few lyrics here and there.
