At the funeral, the band played an acoustic rendition of The Light Behind Your Eyes.

They appointed Frank for vocals.

He was in tears by the end, voice cracking.

"The light behind your eyes..." He whispered.

He walked off the stage and began sobbing.

Mikey put an arm around him, sitting him down.

"He's gone." Frank mumbled, covering his face with his hands.

"I know, but he's not hurting anymore." Ray rubbed his shoulder.

Frank replayed Gerard's last moments in his head over and over again, opening the letter Gerard addressed to him.

Gerard was breathing very, very loudly. His eyes were half lidded and dull. No one was asleep. They were all waiting.

"I love you, Gee. You can go if it's too much." Frank murmured against Gerard's forehead. The boy was so cold.

Gerard parted his blue tinted lips slightly, drawing a shaky breath.

"Thank you." He whispered in a quiet, cracking voice.

Frank sobbed into Gerard's hair, gently combing his fingers through the black hair.

Within fifteen minutes, Gerard ceased to breathe.

Gerard was free.
