6 Weeks Later

"Lexie, are you ready?" I shout.

"Yeah, I'll be right there," Lexie shouts back.

I stand by the door holding Lexie's and my coats. Today is Lexie's first day back at work since she was attacked by Julian. A few days after the attack, she finally opened up to me about it, and she has stayed home since she was discharged. I'm worried about her going back to work, but she's so strong and has been through so much, so I know she will be fine.

Lexie hesitantly walks over to be a few minutes later, biting her lower lip.

"What's wrong?" I ask.

"I'm just nervous to go back to work. I don't know if I'll be able to handle being at the hospital again," Lexie replies.

"Hey, you have nothing to worry about, Lex. You're one of the strongest people I know. Plus, I can make sure you're on my service if you want," I say, trying to reassure her.

Lexie shakes her head. "Thanks, but it's okay. Plastics isn't exactly the specialty I'm focusing on."

I look at her again and she still looks pale and nervous. We are about to walk out the door when I grab her by the shoulders. She looks down at the floor.

"Look at me," I say. She slowly lifts her head and locks eyes with me. "I love you, and I know you're amazing. You'll be great today."

She nods and I pull her in for a hug.

When we get to the hospital, we find Meredith, Derek, Callie, Arizona, April, Jackson, Cristina, and Lexie's resident friends all waiting for us.

"Welcome back!" someone shouts as Meredith rushes over and hugs Lexie.

"How are you?" April asks.

"Are you excited to be back?" Arizona asks.

"I'm so glad you're back!" April exclaims.

I smile, happy to see that everyone cares so much about Lexie coming back. I look over at Lexie, unsure of whether or not she was overwhelmed by the welcome, but she seems happy. She rushed over to hug April and answered everyone's questions openly. It's amazing how well she gets along with everyone and how quickly she can go from feeling sad to happy.

I stand on the side watching the scene unfold, and suddenly I feel my pager buzz against my leg. I look down and see that Owen is paging me to the ER. I walk over to the crowd and tap Derek on the shoulder.

"Can I talk to you?" I ask him.

He nods and walks away from the crowd. "What's up?"

"Can you keep an eye on Lexie for me? I'm a little worried about her first day back, and I just want to make sure nothing goes wrong," I explain.

"Of course. She's on my service today, I just hope she's not to traumatized," Derek replies.

"Me too," I reply. Suddenly I remember that I was paged to the ER. "I have to go to the ER. Just please make sure Lexie is okay,"

"I promise I'll keep an eye on her," Derek says.

"Thanks," I say quickly and rush to the ER, grabbing Jackson's arm as I go.

I've never finished a story on Wattpad before, so if anyone has any advice or suggestions on when/how I should end the story, I would really appreciate it. Thanks for reading!
