"Alice!" a voice jolted me out of my sleep. "You need to see this! We're here!" My mom.
I looked out the car window at the gates.
"Holy crap! It's real!" I exclaimed.
My mom looked at me with a look I couldn't distinguish. "Alice... I should have told you this a long time ago..." she trailed off.
I feared what she would say next, and gave her a blank look.
She spoke. "You're a... dhampir. And so am I."
I felt my eyes go wide as I processed that information. I'm a dhampir??? I thought.
"No. No no no. Dhampirs aren't real! Only in Vampire Academy!" my voice cracked.
Just then, a man came to the gates.
"Names?" he asked.
"Julia Hathaway, and Alice Hathaway." my mother replied.
The man stared in awe, and I studied his face. He seemed familiar. Then he spoke. "The sister of Janine Hathaway?" he didn't bother to add on Rose.
My mom nodded. "What is your name?" she asked.
"Mikhail Tanner." the man answered.]
He let us drive in, and we parked.
"Will I get to meet Dimitri?" I asked.
"Yes... why?"
"Just curious..." I murmured.
