Dimitri and I went to the mall later that day. 

I picked out outfits for the rest of the week. 

They were summery clothes, even though it was fall. 

Phoenix, remember?

Anyways, after we went shopping, we came home and I saw that Mariah was here.

She ushered me into a hug. 

"Alice! Oh, I'm so glad to see you! And you're mother! Where is she?"

I looked down at my shoes, and a tear dropped onto them. 

"She's been in an accident. And she has left us."

Mariah hugged me tighter. "Oh, Alice, I'm so sorry."

Before I could say anything more, she looked up and saw Dimitri.

"You must be Dimitri?"

He nodded and shook her hand. "Yeah. It's very nice to meet you."

He turned and went to our guest room, and I followed.

I hung up the clothes, and put on my pajamas.

Flopping down in bed, I closed my eyes, overwhelmed. 

Sammy's all better, my mother is dead. 

What else do they want from me?
