Josh just held Abigail's hand as she laid in pain on the emergency room bed. He was trying to calculate in his head what could be wrong. He had no idea what it could be.

The doctors all ran a bunch of tests and ending up keeping Abigail overnight for observation. Josh didn't mind sleeping on a hospital room couch if that meant Abigail wasn't alone.

"Josh?" Abigail whispered. By her voice, it was clear she was in pain, but wasn't trying to show it.

"Yeah love?" Josh asked, getting up.
"I'm scared."

With that statement Josh sighed and made his way carefully beside her.

"I know love. I am too. But, you can't live your life in fear. No matter what, we all have limited time in this earth, and we need to just not think about the end and enjoy life while it lasts. We only get once chance. We have got to make the best of it. Don't be scared. You'll be okay. You've got me. I'm here for you." Josh said, wiping her tears and hugging her small frame.

"You're only here for three more months." Abigail whispered, crying.

Josh nodded. "We'll work something out."

Abigail nodded, wiped her tears, and fell back asleep.

But Josh was up late that night. He was contemplating human existence. What is a purpose? Is there anything after this life?

He didn't know the answers to his own questions.

In the morning, the doctor came in and told Abigail and Josh the harrowing news. They both sobbed and sobbed. They couldn't believe this was happening. Why Abigail? Why not someone horrible? Why the sweetest girl Josh had ever met?

Josh couldn't stand the thought of Abigail not being okay.

But what hurt him the most, was he couldn't be there for her in three months. And that time would be when Abigail would need her polaroid boy the most.
