Thorin

You stared at the landscape around you, frowning slightly, not recognising where you are. The water before you was motionless, a purple haze falling over it, giving a calming feeling in the air. You could make out distant trees, the green barely registering.

What really drew you though, was the littering of red and pink before you, clearly having started falling from the tree over pier. If you weren't so confused, so worried why you didn't remember getting here, then you would've been awed by what was before you, the sight truly beautiful.

The air was warm around you, but still, you felt cold, and you wrapped your arms around yourself, blinking away what felt like tears.

There was something off about this place.

"Y/N?"

You turned at the soft voice calling your name and found Thorin staring at you, many emotions going across his face as he took a hesitant step forward.

"Are you alright?" His voice was still quiet, still unsure.

"I..." You swallowed, the tears coming more now, your voice breaking. "I don't know."

This seemed to be enough for Thorin as he strode forward and wrapped you securely in his arms, you quickly returning the hug to bury against his chest, feeling yourself shaking as you clung to him.

"Hush," He said softly into your hair. "Everything is okay now. I'm here. We're okay."

You whimpered and Thorin pressed kisses into your hair, one hand rubbing gentle circles to help you settle. It had seemed like so long since you had been in his arms like this, the sensation calming, like it used to be, and this made you frown.

"Thorin," You shifted to look at him, his blue eyes shining. "What happened?"

He cups your cheeks in his hands and rests his forehead against yours, both of you taking a moment before he answered. "I...I am not sure my love, but we are together, that's what matters."

You let out a shaky breath. "I'm so cold Thorin."

"Come, let us sit." He takes your hand firmly in his and leads you to the end of the pier, the leaves barely crunching under your feet as you both sat at the end, your feet hanging over the water.

"Do you know where we are?" You asked, staring down at the water, not noting that there was no reflection.

"At peace." Thorin's hand was still in yours. "And together. That's all that matters."

When you don't respond, he gives your hand a small squeeze, brining your gaze to his. "I'm scared Thorin."

"I know," He pulled you to him, keeping you close. "But I am here. We will get through this."

He was your lifeline, like always, and you leaned into him, trying to feel warm again. "I love you."

"I love you too." His lips ghost over yours, and you can taste salt, realising that he is crying too, making you press close to him, drawing him into you, your hands squeezing together tightly as the silence engulfed you. "Just take your time love. We have all the time in the world."
