"So you're off now?"
"Yep." Nadia says hugging me. "Take care."
"Yeah.." I say.
"And don't worry about Mackenzie, I'm sure it'll work out."
"Yeah. Thanks."
I watch Nadia as she walks off.

"Hey Johnny, we got you a present!" The twins say as they hand me a package covered with Christmas wrapping paper.
"Oh thank you..." I say nervously taking it from them.
Its a trick! Its definitely a trick!
I fiddle with the package in my hands.
"Erm, what exactly is this for?" I ask suspiciously.
"Your birthday!" Riley blurts out.
"But it's not my birthd-" I start.
"Ha ha, Riley very funny!" Lacey laughs nervously. She nudges Riley and they both start cackling.
"What's so funny..." I say.
"Its an apology gift." Lacey says slowly.
"Yeah!" Riley says.
"An apology gift? For what?" I ask.
"For you know, ermmmm..." Riley starts, looking to Lacey for help.
"For everything." Lacey says.
"Okay..." I say, still convinced its a trap.
"Well then! Open it!" Lacey exclaims.
I cautiously unravel the wrapping paper, and hold up the package.
"A barbie doll?" I say.
"Yeah, do you like it?" Riley asks.
Riley looks so genuine and innocent that I can't bring myself to tell her the truth, Lacey however looks very smug.
"I love it!" I say over enthusiastically. "Its very, um, nice..."
"Oh thank goodness!" Riley says. "I picked it out myself. Lacey knew you'd love it."
I look at Lacey to find her standing behind Riley nearly dying of laughter.
Just then, the doorbell rings.
"I'LL GET IT!!" I yell.

"Oh, Emma, hey!" I say, to Emma who is standing at the front door.
"I was just passing by, you know, thought I'd pop in." She says.
"Yeah, yeah, come in." I say and I step aside to let her in.
"Where's that other girl, Mackenzie was it?" Emma says, taking a seat on the sitting room sofa.
"Oh she's gone back to America." I sigh.
"Eh, is she your girlfriend?"
"Was." I reply
"What happened?"
"I really don't know."
"But you still like her right?" Emma asks.
"Eh yeah." I say.
"So go get her!" Emma exclaims, jumping up from the chair.
"What?" I say.
"Go to America!" She says.
"I'm 14!" I say.
"So?" She says impatiently.
"I can't just go to America by myself!"
"So get someone to take you."
"Like who?" I say. "My mom definitely won't take me and neither will my dad."
"Why can't they take you?"
"I'm not even allowed to go by myself, if my parents find out I'm dead." I say.
"Then ask your sister." She says.
"Yeah, I'll ask Maddie. Thanks Emma!" I say, hugging her.
I start heading towards the door, but then I remember the barbie doll in my hand.
"Oh yeah, this is for you." I say handing it to Emma, while I secretly pray that she likes baby girl dolls.
"OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!" She squeals.
I look at her in disbelief. She loves barbie dolls?!

I put on my headphones and play some loud music. I immerse myself in the music and drift off from the real world. I find myself in a dreamland.
The city is made out of candy: lollipops, candy canes, gummies.
There is a sign post made out of candyfloss saying 'Candyland'
I reach out a pick a bunch of candyfloss from the sign. I'm just about to put it in my mouth, when I am suddenly woken up from my dream.
"John!" Maddie says, shaking me.
"Huh?" I jump up. "Are we there yet!"
"Nearly, look." Maddie says, pointing out the window.
I look out the window and as the clouds disappear, I see the beautiful sky view of Los Angeles.
