Sal knew it wasn't a good idea for them to follow Addie, especially because the command came from what they referred to as "The Creator". Anything could happen to any of the three of them.
"Sal, you're slowing down," Ate called back to the other. That caused Sal to realize just how far back they were, before picking up the pace. It took a few more minutes before they saw Addie short figure in front of a gate. It didn't look like the gates the entire group had grown to know. It was new.
"Addie! What the hell?" Sal called, quickly startling the young teen.
"Go back!" She shot back. "They called for me, not you."
Sal began to respond before static was heard.
"It's quite alright, Adeline," A distorted voice was heard. Sal and Addie recognized it, but Ate was thrown off. Where was the voice even coming from? "It wouldn't hurt to have more people. Now, enter. And don't waste any time." Static was heard, and then there was silence.
"Was that..." Ate started.
"Yeah. Now let's go," Addie responded before the gate opened.
As soon as the three entered, the gate closed once more. They then took in their surroundings. It seemed to be some sort of hospital, but extremely worn down. Hospital beds could be strewn about.
"Come on," Addie muttered before entering the building. "This must be mostly building. I'm going off to find a generator. Go find another and work on it." Before the other two could respond, she raced off.
"I'm thinking she's a bit upset," Ate murmured, earning a short, dry chuckle from Sal.
"Just a little. Come on. Let's find a generator," Sal replied before heading off in the opposite direction of Addie. It couldn't be too hard to find a generator.
The two remained quiet as the walked, looking for a generator. It had been quiet, which set Ate and Sal on edge. Why was it so quiet?
"Look, I'll go up while you stick down here," Sal said. "I need to look for a generator." Ate nodded, causing Sal to smile. "Okay. Great." They grabbed Ate's hand and squeezed it before running upstairs. The motion made Ate freeze for a second. What was that?
After recovering from the quick shock, she began to look around. There were no generators. "Where the-" She froze as an image flashed in her eyes. She would've screamed if her whole body hadn't frozen up. It was terrifying. And a similar image took its place a moment later. That made her let out a small yelp.
In her frozen state, she didn't sense a figure approaching. She still didn't until a large shock surged through her body, making her let out a short scream. It didn't hurt her, but instead scared her and clouded her vision.
"Run!"
The voice was completely unfamiliar, but she listened either way. She ran as quickly as her feet would carry her, and it only took a few moments for her to escape.
She took in several sharp breaths as she slid down against the wall and pulled herself into the fetal position, her head cradled in her hands.
"You've gotta snap out of it. You won't be able to move," Ate's head snapped up as she recognized the voice from before. She quickly met eyes with an unfamiliar figure. An almost ghostly figure.
"Who are you?" She quietly asked as she eyes the person.
"I'm Jon," He responded, causing Ate's eyes to widen. "Now, come on. He'll be back any second. Let's get your head cleared."
