When they were eight, Dean carved "D.W + C.N" into their tire swing tree because, "they were going to be best friends forever."
"Forever's a long time, Dean."
"Exactly."
When they were sixteen, Dean kissed him under that tree for the first time.
When they were seventeen, Dean moved away. He told Cas to wait for him, and he'd be back.
Sam let Dean cry into his shoulder that night.
When they were twenty, Cas sat on the old tire swing and ran his fingers over their names.
And Dean found him there.
When they were twenty-four they returned to their tree to change the N to a W, because Castiel Novak became Castiel Winchester.
