Get Up

"Alex!"

I was woken by a thud. I wasn't sure if it was Danny or Rhys who was outside, but the voice shouting my name was definitely that of a teenage Beta.

"Alex! Wake up, get dressed, and get your lazy ass down to the pack room!"

It was definitely Danny. I cracked a grin, but felt no inclination to get up. Maddy's head rested on my arm and her head was buried in my bare chest, her hair curling around her throat. She was fast asleep, dressed again, and I didn't want to wake her.

"ALEXANDER JAY WOLFE!!!"

Danny was yelling now. "Get up! Dad called a pack meeting. You'd have heard it if your mind wasn't blocked off. For God's sake, get up!"

That roused me. Dad never called a pack meeting unless something very good or very bad was happening. I opened my mind to Danny and said, I'm coming. Let me wake Maddy. He snorted and left and I kissed Maddy on her jawbone. My lips moved up along her temple and she sighed contentedly as I kissed her on the lips. "Wake up, Maddy," I murmured. "We have to go." A crease appeared between her eyebrows as she gave a sleepy groan. It was interrupted by a yawn and the crease deepened.

"Mmmrrrrrraaaaaaaaaawwwww."
