"You're seriously wearing that?"
I was watching Maddy as she glanced at me in surprise.
"What's wrong with it?" she asked.
She was wearing a silver dress that ran to her knees. I took a step forwards and pulled her into a hug.
"What part of 'beach'," I murmured into her hair, "hints at dresses?"
"So... I shouldn't wear it?"
"I wouldn't if I were you," I told her as I stepped back again. "It'll get sand all over it. And the young werewolves like to go for a moonlit swim in the lake and I plan on us joining them. I'm just wearing jeans and a T-shirt."
"She looked at me strangely. "Won't it be too cold to go for a swim?" I laughed and held her hand to her cheek. She gasped and pulled away, staring at her hand.
"Hot, isn't it?" I commented. "You're a werewolf now, and your body heat can change drastically to suit whatever climate you're in. Haven't you wondered why it'a the middle of winter and you're not even shivering as you stand there in a dress?"
She ran to the window and peered out. "Oh my god..." she murmured. "It's winter and I didn't even notice."
"Trust me," I told her. "It's not too cold for a swim. And by the way, the teen werewolves will probably be Changing. They normally do at Matching Fires. So don't freak out if you suddenly find yourself surrounded by a bunch of wolves. Just say hi."
