One thing I liked about this anime scene is that Yuu is smiling.
Here's something interesting:
A Mikaela light novel had a scene in which young Yuu and Mika have a conversation regarding forgiveness after Yuu apologizes to Mika for getting them both involved in a fight against a group of other boys.
After Mika says that he wouldn't forgive Yuu, he then says, "Just kidding."
Mika also states afterward, "If I make a mistake, you also have to forgive me with a smile."
Also, throughout some parts of the novel, Mika thinks to himself about how he loves Yuu's smile, and how it brought hope to the other kids, including himself.
Adding the smile in episode 22 was quite neat. This way, it's implied that Yuu and Mika both forgive each other for everything that has gone wrong in the past and assure that they stay together as each other's precious family, maybe even closer now at this point.
