Conference {part.2}

The next day I woke up earlier than I would have preferred, but I couldn't go back to sleep so I decided to get dressed. I took a long hot shower and thoroughly washed my hair, letting it air dry would take too long so I wrapped my hair in a towel.

  I actually did my makeup today and wore a dark eyeshadow with an even darker lip. My eyebrows were groomed to perfection and I made sure to put a glow to the high points of my face. Going into the closet I checked my endless array of dresses. A long sleeved white wrap dress that fell past my ankles caught my attention and so I put it on. I chose to wear black gladiator sandals and dainty gold jewelry. Once dressed I let my hair down from the towel and shook my hair out. I grabbed my hair pick and started pulling upwards towards the roots, to add more volume. The longer parts fell over my forehead, but short enough not to cover my eyes. I gave myself a long once over in the mirror and gave myself a mental thumbs up.

The dining hall was already starting to fill up with the rest of the family. The smells of bacon, eggs, toast, and basically every breakfast food known to man filled the air. I walked in and sat at the head of the tables and listened to the kids. Breakfast finished up quickly and I was struggling to figure out what I would do with the kids while their parents were away.

"Angelica, would you do me a favor and take all the kids to the stables so they can meet the horses. I have some business to attend to with the parents and I don't want them to be bored," I whispered.

"Of course your highness," she said.

I called for the Lords and Ladies to meet in the war room where the council was already seated. The war room was basically this gigantic room with a long table in the middle. On either side of the table were chairs that were meant for the council, the Lords and Ladies, and the King and Queen. It held the map to pretty much everywhere, it showed my kingdom and the other three as well. But the one I was focused on was farthest from the rest of us sitting on the East of the board.

After everyone was seated I stood at the head of the table and waited for everyone's attention.

"Hello everyone, thank you all for continued here on such short notice. I'd like to start with an apology, I know you all have busy schedules and I'm sorry that I had to pull you away," I stated.

Did I really need to start out with that, absolutely not but I was stalling I hated being the bearer of bad news.

"My Queen it is quite all right, even if it wasn't for anything important we would all be here for you," Lady Bellum said.

Everyone said their hums of agreement and once again I felt a pang for having to worry them.

"Thank you. As you all know the Land of Diligitis experience a tragic event a few days ago," I started with. Everyone sent their support towards Lord and Lady Diligitis. "My soldier and I were able to confirm that this was a raider attack. Our best trackers searched the forest and were able to find the group of raiders and capture one," I said. Upon saying this the people in the room sat a little bit straighter than before, especially Lord Bellum. "I was able to make the raider talk and he gave me some very thought provoking information. He said he was sent from the Kingdom of Afisa," I said quietly.

The room went up in an uproar, the Lords were screaming obscenities and the Ladies let out a shrill of dismay. The council men's faces darkened, the only one calm was Boomy, the head council men. He raised his hand and the room immediately quieted down, he commanded respect like that.

"Please let the Queen finish," he said in his old man voice. He gave me a smile and ushered me to continue.

"Thank you Boomy," I said quietly. I held out my palm and the patch magically appeared in my hands. I set it on the table and allowed everyone to inspect it. "This was on his vest the night that I saw him, he said that he was from the Kingdom of Afisa," I said.
