Griff and Zuri: Love at First Sight (Book 2)

Lets Talk: Part II

Zuri POV

I'm so scared right now. Griff pulled me away from the others to talk to me. I wonder what about. Duh! Its so obvious.

"Hey," he says. He shoves both hands in his pockets and looks into my eyes. I look at the ground and say nothing. He keeps going. "So are things going?"

I finally look up at him. "Honestly? Things are horrible right now."

"How come?" he asks.

I shake my head. He sighs. "I came here to talk to you okay?"

"Fine," I say. "Let's go somewhere else."

We go by the docks and sit down. I dip my feet into the water. Feels good.

"The truth is," I say. "Ever since...we broke up, things have been really messed up. Then Jason tried to...."

"Hook up with you," Griff says. I can tell he's mad.

"Yeah," I reply. "I never really liked him. I thought he just wanted to be friends or something. I had no idea he had feelings for me."

When Griff says nothing, I look up at him and continue. "Truth is, I still like you. Very much. I just....it hurt when you started ignoring me and stuff. I thought maybe you didn't like me anymore."

He put a hand on mine and said, "I will always love you Zuri. I should have told you what was going on. The reason I was avoiding you was because I got a letter from the people who run the juvie place saying I had to go back to juvie. But it was a mistake it was meant for someone else."

"Why didn't you tell me?" I ask.

He shrugs. "I didn't want to hurt your feelings."

"Well it hurt me even more when you started acting like I didn't exist."

"I'm sorry," he says. "I didn't want to get too attached when I knew I would be leaving."

"Its okay. Just promise not to keep anything from me anymore. I my be your ex, but you're still my friend," I say.

He smiles a little and I give him a hug. When I pull away, he puts a hand against my cheek and kisses me. It happened so fast it made my head spin. For some reason I didn't push him back. I kissed back and he eventually pulled away.

He looks into my eyes and says, "Zuri, will you please be my girlfriend again? I'll try not to mess it up and do everything I can and make-"

I cut him off by kissing him again. "Yes. I'll be your girlfriend, Griff Jones."

He smiles and gives me a hug. I hug him back. Being in Griff's arms makes me feel protected.
