Counting up to ten isn't that hard right?

You simply use your fingers:

One,

two,

three,

four,

five,

six,

seven,

eight,

nine...

Ten.

That's the basic stuff you learn as a small kid.

Like learning the twenty six letters of the alphabet, or being able to differentiate between the colours of the rainbows, as well as identifying the sounds of farm animals.

Counting up to the number 10 is actually a breeze once you get the hang of it.

Okay so how about a word like...

Depression?

10 letters, 1 word.

How about spelling out depression, is that a basic?

It is quite similar to counting numbers but really it is just spelling out letters after all.

D...  E...  P...  R...  E...  S...  S...  I...  O...  N...

Depression...

Depression...

Depression...

It actually seems like some long, complicated word at first, that could have some profound or scientific meaning to it.

But honestly it is just a "word".

If you were to mention this word, what do you get in return?

Well,

People look at you at a whole new perspective like you've suddenly become a stranger to them or have morphed into something unknown and... new.

No, not shiny, wonderful new, but strange, freaky new.

Different.

The looks of horror, disgust or even worst; fear.

Some people look at you with sad eyes, with pity that isn't genuinely always there.

They look at you as if you're not a human being anymore.

It's like you have already lost touch with society. An outcast.

You haven't, though, at least not yet. Because you're still, but barely, hanging on.

I gave up hanging on though.

It was no use.

There was nothing on the other side of the ledge, waiting for me if I were to ever make it back on the other side.

So...

I just let go...

Into my own world...

Alone.
