Melissa's pov-
The rest of the Losers and I were down at the barrens doing god knows what.
Probably building a dam, or playing some dumb game.
"Hey, you guys wanna ride down to the ice cream store?" Asked Richie.
"Sure. Why not." I replied as everyone, including me, stood up and got their bikes.
As we were about to head out of the barrens, there was a sound.
More like a voice.
"What was that?" I said, quickly stopping.
"Hi-ya Losers!" Giggled the voice. But it wasn't a happy giggle, no. More like a fake, mysterious one.
"W-who are y-you?" Stuttered bill.
We heard the voice, but could not see who or where it was coming from.
"Aw ya don't know me...buh-buh-Billy boi??" Laughed the voice.
Eddie was now taking brief puffs of his inhaler.
"Who- where are you?!" I shouted.
Just then..the giggling of the voice stopped, and a balloon floated out of a sewer hole.
Only to float back and forth between the sewer and outside.
"What the-" Richie said, walking toward the balloon.
"Ruh-Richie you shouldn't d-do that." Bill said.
"Yeah it's not safe in there." I Agreed.
But that didn't stop Richie.
"It's fine. Come on. Aren't you guys comin?" Richie asked, stopping at the edge of the sewer hole.
I looked at bill, and he nodded.
"Ok..fine." I said, walking toward Richie.
"ARE U CRAZY?!" Eddie said, still standing where he was before.
"Oh come on Eddie spaghetti." Richie said, as he playfully pulled Eddie into the sewer.

As we walked down the sewer, I tried my best to stay close to Bill. He just made me feel so safe.
When our hands brushed against each other, I quickly pulled mine away, blushing.
"Sorry.." I said.
He just smiled at me and held my hand.
"It's ok." He said, without stuttering.
I'm pretty sure I smiled myself to death.

As we turned a corner, I felt my whole body tense up.
I guess I was tightening my grip on Bill's hand because he realized.
"Y-You ok-" he was cut off by the figures voice.
A clown.
"Hi Melissa!" The clown said.
I tried to scream, but nothing would come out.
But then.
The clown somehow shape-shifted into all of my friends bodies.
Except for Bill's.
Bill was still here.
"Your a horrible friend!"
"Your nothing but a loser!"
"Nobody likes you!"
"Stop trying!"
Was what all the voices said.
I was starting to believe everything that my "friends" were saying.
"I-I'm sorry!" I yelled at the figures.
"Melissa! It isn't real! T-there ain't nothing t-there!" Bill tried to reassure me.
I slowly started walking toward the figure.
It's almost as if I was being hypnotized to walk toward it.
"Melissa! No!" Yelled Bill.
But i didn't listen.
As I stopped in front of the clown, it held out a big, shiny, red balloon.
My head was saying to run home.
To run away from all of this..
But that's not what I did.
Instead, I excepted the balloon.
"M-Melissa..." bill stuttered.
I didn't answer him.
I wanted to, but something was stopping me.
Suddenly, as I grabbed ahold of the balloon, it popped and dark red blood splashed everywhere.
Then I had realized what was going on.
I started screaming as loud as I could as the clown just laughed.
The clown was getting closer and I was too frightened to move.
So, Bill ran up to me and grabbed my hand, pulling us out of the sewer hole.
We ran as fast as we could until we found the entrance in which we came from.
I fell to the ground and noticed that there was still blood all over me.
"No, no no no! This can't be happening!" I cried.
I put my head in my hands and just cried.
No matter how true this was, I didn't want to believe any of it.
Bill sat down by me and engulfed me into a hug.
"I-it's gonna be ok Melissa.. it's gonna be ok." He assured me.
"P-promise?"
"Promise."
"I l-love you Bill." Is what I said. I don't know exactly why I said it, but I immediately regretted it once it came out.
But I was relieved once he said,
"I-I love you t-too" he smiled and we both blushed.
I felt safe now.
Safe with him.
He was my safe place.
