Normani's POV
I'm casually lying on my bed while playing Saints Row, just as I annihilate an alien I get a text on my phone from Lauren.
12th Avenue 🌃🍃🔪: Open the door
I raise a brow in confusion and go to the door, I open it and scrunch my face at how stressed and vulnerable she looks.
"Hey" She mumbles
I lock the door back and look her over, spotting the scrape on her arm. I grab onto her wrist and pull her into the bathroom.
"What happened?" I ask
"I'm fine" She sighs
"Still think I'm an airhead?" I smirk
She lets out a tiny smile and winces when I apply the peroxide to her arm.
"C'mon, what's wrong?" I ask
"I feel like crap" She says
I gesture for her to elaborate and she shrugs.
"The other three and I got shot at" She says nonchalantly
I make a face and lean back.
"Why you so nonchalant about the shit? You could've got seriously hurt" I say
She starts laughing and I pinch her near the scrape.
"Ouch! Why?!" She yells
"It's not funny, does it look like I'm laughing?" I ask
"We get shot at often, it's just that I was with my daughter so I feel pretty messed up" She says lowly towards the end
"A MINI LAUREN OMG LEMME SEEEEEEE!" I yell
"Girl hush!" She chuckles
"Lemme see her Laurennn" I drag out
She takes my hand and pulls me onto her lap, she shows me a picture of them two and I snatch the phone.
"Oh my gosh she's so cute! How old is she? What's her name?" I smile
"Her name's Aaliyah and she's four" She smiles
"Such a pretty name, is she okay?" I ask, rubbing her neck
"Physically but mentally and emotionally I know she's not, she probably thinks I'm dead or scared of me, who knows?" She shrugs
"And she's never seen anything I've done, I try to keep her away from all of that. If anything, she's seen one of the guns in my room from being too nosy. It hurts a lot, I think this is the most pain I've ever been in." She says
She rolls her eyes as two tears fall and I reach up to wipe them. I lean in and give her a long kiss.
"Just Pray on it and everything will be fine"
