after class, everyone was talking. nikki and neil seemed happy for us, as did nerris and harrison. ered wasn't bothered, dolph just applauded. space kid was in awe and nurf was, well, mad.
max grabbed my arm and pulled me into the gym. i was giggling like a young child the whole time. once we stopped, max did something really weird.
he hugged me.
his arms wrapped loosely around my torso and he smiled into my shoulder. i shed a tear or two.
this was, in all actuality, a dream come true. i held max tighter than i thought was possible. he didn't resist.
he nuzzled his head into the crook of my neck.
"you're home." his voice cracked.
i just nodded and held him tighter.
i never knew home till i held him.
