- Felix's POV -

I felt weird sitting in the car with Kaiden and his little sister. I directed him to a small restaurant but the car was silent except for Lucy's babble about the episode she was watching. We pulled up in front of a white brick building with an outside eating area. Large blue letters were painted above the door saying 'αμβροσία' which was Ambrosia, the food of the gods. I could see a few customers through the large slightly tinted bay windows. We pulled up in the car park, entering the restaurant.

"Felix! How lovely to see you again!" A short, older lady waddled over. She gave me a kiss on each cheek,
"How are you? Come in, come in!" She guided us to an outside table,

"Is Adrian and Landor here?" I asked. This was the twins mother, they help her out occasionally but they're more invested in their bar.

"Both are still asleep upstairs" she huffed, the family lived upstairs above the shop. Adrian and Landor slept here some times in their old double bed which they are way to big for.
"And who are these lovely people?" She asked looking at  Kaiden and Lucy.

"Douche and douches sister" I said, Kaiden kicked me under the table.
"Ow, my shin! Kaiden and Lucy" I sighed,

"Juno" she introduced before pulling out a notebook from her apron
"What will it be?" Kaiden looked at me.

"What do recommend?" He asked not bothering to look at the menu,

"3 Moussaka"

"3 what?" Lucy giggled.

"It's a oven-baked casserole of layered eggplant and spiced meat filling topped with a creamy bechamel" Juno explained. They soon arrived and we ate quickly,

"I always love Juno's cooking" I sighed putting down my cutlery as Kaiden wiped his sisters face.

"We don't see you enough" Juno gushed,
"You need to come over more" she punched my cheek.

"Ah come on Ma! He don't need your steel pinches" Landor yawned, scratching his head. Juno turned into him,

"And where were you?" She demanded,
"Upstairs, snoring away with your bloody brother that's where!"

"We both work at night" Landor complained,

"Do I look like I care?-" she began frantically speaking in Greek. Landor winced,

"Hey Felix" he greeted ignoring his mother. I gave him a smile,

"Watch out" I said sweetly.
Juno reached up, grabbing her son by the ear and disappeared with him in the kitchen, their frantic shouts getting quieter. I chuckled,

"I think it's time to go" I looked at the time.
"Could you email Miss thing that we chose the book"

"You mean Mrs Johnson?" Kaiden asked,

"When did she get married?" I said. Kaiden laughed,

"Yeah, sure. I'll do that" he gathered up Lucy,
"Come on Monkey, time to go home" she stuck out her bottom lip,

"But I want to stay here! I don't want you to go back!" She whined. Kaiden shook his head,

"You've already caused me enough trouble" he muttered picking her up. She began a full on temper tantrum, her legs kicking in to Kaiden's ribs. He groaned and within a split second, she had run. Taking advantage of his loose grip, she ended up running out.

"CATCH HER!" Kaiden cried, I bolted out the door looking around. I saw a silver sparkly shoe round the corner, I began running after her. Kaiden right behind me, when we came around the corner I saw something I didn't want to see. Lucy was squirming around in the hands of Kaiden's friend,

"Braydon!" Kaiden called. Instead of slowing my pace, I turned me head and ran straight past him and past Lucy. Skidding around the corner, I began catching my breath. It was better to keep running then to stop and explain why I was there or why I looked like I did.

"NooOOOoooOoo!" Lucy cried, I peeked around and saw Braydon handing back the screaming child. Kaiden thanked him then began walking off with his sister tucked under his arm. I made my way back to the apartment, Kaiden's car now gone and only a text message was left behind.

Sorry about that, I'll see you Monday
I scoffed, Mondays are the worst. I tucked my phone back in my pocket, walking over to my bike. I swung a leg over, feeling the familiar feeling of the engine rumbling as I strapped on my helmet. I drove out of the parking lot, away from everything hoping to get some fresh air.

I drove around the town, ending up at the lake across town. On one side sat a playground and picnic tables. A child care centre sat across the road, families wandered about enjoying the sun. However on the other side of the lake, away from the eyes of adults and child, was where the teenagers like to party. Cigarette butts, alcohol cans and empty junk food packets littered the ground.

Trees had random scribbles on them from teenagers carving their names in, hoping to be remembered when they die. Scattered about were fire pits with timber seats for enjoying, this was where they liked to party. I preferred the family side, where it was calm and sweet. I pulled up my bike, getting stares at from some of the mothers. When I took of my helmet I heard a few murmurs.

'What a cutie!'
'How old do you think he is?'
'My husbands all pudgy and lazy'
'Eye candy!'
Were some conversations I caught as I shook out my hair. As I nerd, I hid under large and baggy clothing but I currently wore my normal clothes. I lifted up the back seat, grabbing my spare book I had in there. I found a park bench over looking the lake and sat on it, opening my copy of 'The Three Musketeers'. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a large willow tree close to the edge of the lake, it's leaves skimming over the waters surface. Memories resurfaced yet I repressed them, I didn't want to remember even though it was one of the only good memories.
I blew through my noes, turning my attention back to the book.

'On the first Monday of the month of April 1626, the market-town of Meung; in which the author of the 'Romance of the Rose' was born, appeared to be in as perfect a state of revolution as if the Huguenots had just made a second Rochelle of it....'
As I read on, I began loosing track of reality and found myself in France, 1626.

The extract is from 'The Three Musketeers' which I recently became in possession of. Is it a good read? Tell me your opinion!

I thank google for the translation and Greek mythology for the restaurant.
