Jason's pov

I can't keep an eye on her. It hurts too much seeing her. Happy and moved on with a new boyfriend. It makes me sick just thinking about it. So I'm gonna send a spy. A member of my gang she hasn't met yet to befriend her. Get close enough to keep a sharp eye on her. I know just who too. The master of theatrics. She's the perfect choice because she's really good at acting. She can be any kind of character.

Nikki's pov

I had finished up a jog when the intercom blared. "Nikki, come to my office." "I wonder what the boss wants with you!" My friend Andrea says. I shrug. "Probably nothing important." I say, drinking my smoothie. I get to his office. "Ya called me, boss?" I ask sitting down. He looks rough. I wonder what happened. "I called you and chose you for your expertise in acting." He says, looking up from a notebook. "Yes sir?" I say slightly confused. "Any chance you can pretend to be the new girl at a school. A shy new girl afraid to talk to people." Weird. "I think I can handle it, boss. What's up?" "I need you to go undercover and befriend this girl." He hands me a picture. "Her name's Miranda. She's got a boyfriend named James and a best friend named Ashley who lives in New York but visits often. I want you to become this girl's friend and keep an eye on her. Make sure nobody hurts her and that includes her boyfriend. Got it?" "Yes sir!" I say saluting. He cracks the seal on a beer and swallows about half. "Report back to me every night. Don't let her know obviously. And don't ever say my name around her." I nod. "Any questions?" I nod again. "Why a shy girl, sir?" "She's got a soft spot for the weak and scared." I'm confused. "Is she an enemy? A target or something?" He shakes his head and drinks more beer. "She's just a friend of mine who I worry about. I know I can count on you Nikki." I smile and nod. "Yes sir. I won't let you down." He smiles tiredly. "Thanks." "May I ask something?" "What?" "Are you doing okay?" He nods. "Meeting adjourned." That's my cue to get the fuck out.

Miranda's pov

A few days later*

I get to school and while I'm eating breakfast, a girl walks in the cafeteria. Her hair was in a braid and she looked terrified. She reminds me of myself. Before I tried to become a bad girl. I sigh, thinking about Jason. James sat down. "What's up?" I point to the girl. "She looks like she needs a friend." "My thoughts exactly." I say, grabbing the apple out of my bag and standing up. "Hey." I say when I reach her table. She jumps in fright. "W-What... Um... H-Hey." I smile and sit across from her. "You new?" She nods. "Name's Nikki. Just moved here from Philadelphia." Weird. Why does she have a southern accent if she lived in Philly? I shrug it off. "I'm Miranda. I know what it's like to be the new kid in town. Maybe you could join me at that table?" I say pointing back to James who waves with a smile. "Thanks. That's very nice of you." I smile. "Come on."

Nikki's pov

I'm in. Wow that was easy.

Jason's pov

I get a call from Nikki. "How's it going?" I say as soon as I answer. "She accepted me instantly sir. Doesn't suspect a thing." "Good." I say smiling tiredly. "Any idea how long I'll be doing this undercover stuff?" "Until I say, Nikki." I say, finishing writing out plans for a takeover. "Don't let her know anything." "Of course sir. She invited me to her house tomorrow for a movie marathon. She's a real nice girl." I smile. "I know." I whisper, too quiet for her to hear. "Keep up the good work." We get off. I take a deep breath. "That's my girl." I whisper choking back a tear.
