Aedion lay on his cot, staring at the shifter sleeping on the bed beside him. She didn't wear his cousin's face while she slept, instead opting for the ghost leopard. Her furry face was turned towards him, and Aedion resisted the urge to reach out and brush his hand through her fur. He had forgiven her for what she and his cousin had agreed upon. Aelin had made a choice about how she was going to save them all, and Lysandra wanted to help her friend. Aedion suspected Rowan had no intention of letting Aelin go through with her plan, and he promised himself he would be right alongside him, telling her the same thing. He would not accept Aelin's fate as she had. He needed her in his future, the future he had always dreamed of; the future that had been ripped away from him time and time again. This was the last time, he promised himself as his eyes drifted closed. He would not allow his future to be taken from him again.
