Aelin thundered down the stairs, Rowan and the rest of her court at her heels. They made it, they made it, not dead, not dead. Her head was roaring as the guard quickened his pace at the sound of her running feet. Faster, faster. She needed to see them, to see them and make sure that the man wasn't lying, that they had made it and that they had brought allies. They reached the entryway, and Aelin launched into an outright sprint, outstripping the guard and throwing open the door. Aelin didn't have words for what she saw.
