He Worries Me

I woke up to the sun peeking through the curtains in my room only to be met with the oh so familiar pounding in my head. I rolled over and grabbed my phone to see what time it was. It read 11:27 and then I saw I had an outrageous amount of texts from Tyler. It wasn't until I saw Tyler's name did, I remember what had happened. I sat up slowly in bed and forced myself to walk towards the door. I walked down the hallway, not expecting to see Meghan anywhere besides her room, only to find her curled up on the couch under a blanket, watching a movie.

"Morning. How ya feeling?" I asked sitting down next to her on the couch.

She shrugged and didn't take her eyes off of the TV. I could see tears starting to form in her eyes, so I put my hand on her shoulder. It took her a second to pull herself together and sat up.

"How are you and Jamie? What happened when you guys went off by yourselves?" She asked me, sitting up.

I couldn't help but smile to myself and remember what had happened between the two of us.

"Well, we went outside and he told me how he had feelings for me and that he wouldn't treat me the way others have and that he wanted us both to be in each other's lives and then I kissed him. I think we're together now." I said trailing off and thinking about Jamie and I couldn't help but smile. I looked over to Meghan, realizing that maybe hearing how happy I am was going to make her upset but when I turned to her, she had the biggest smile on her face and then hugged me.

"You have no idea how happy I am right now! It's about time he told you! I was about ready to beat him up because he was dragging his feet! I guess he just needed some liquid courage." Meghan said making us both laugh.

"Do you just want to have a hangover day like we use to in college and just lay around and watch movies and order take out?" I asked already knowing her answer.

"Yes, please." Meghan answered weakly.

*************

Meghan had to go to work for a bit so I was just doing some work around the house until my phone rang. I thought maybe it was Meghan asking what we were going to get for dinner until I saw Jamie's name pop up.

"Hey Jamie, what's up?"

"Hey Kel, what are you up to?"

"Nothing, I'm just cleaning up the apartment a bit. Why?"

"Do you want to go get lunch? We just finished practice, I can swing by and grab you?"

"Sounds good! Let me know when you're here, I'll just run down so you don't have to get out of your car."

I hung up and went to go get ready. I was so excited to see him but I also wanted to talk to him about Meghan and Tyler...

After a bit, Jamie texted me and I left to meet him outside. I hopped into his truck and he greeted me with a kiss. I couldn't hide my smile and when I opened my eyes he was smiling just as big as me which made me smile even more.

"Hi." Jamie said.

"Hi." I answered after I let out a slight giggle at the big dorky hockey player. "So, where are we going?"

"Why don't we go to that little brunch place down the street?"

"Sounds good to me! I love their wraps!" I answered and then we started our way down the road.

We sat down and started talking about the game tomorrow and how he thinks they're going to do and how it is important that they do well tomorrow. They're playing the Blackhawks which is always a good game. They need to make sure they're playing their best if they want to come out with a win.

"The only thing I'm worried about though is Tyler. He had a terrible practice so I can't imagine how his game is going to be tomorrow." Jamie said looking down at his drink.

"How has he been?" I asked wondering if he was angry upset or the sad upset. I feel like he could be either given the situation.

"Well, he isn't talking to me. He won't even look at me but Jordie has been talking to him a bit and he's not good. He walked into the locker room and his eyes were so red and puffy. None of us have seen him like this. He physically was at practice but his mind wasn't, coach even noticed and told me to talk to him but how am I supposed to talk to him if he won't talk to me?" Jamie said getting a little upset over the situation of his best friend not talking to him.

"Why exactly is he mad at you?" I asked trying to understand exactly why Tyler would be mad at him.

"Well, I am the one who told him he should tell Meg how he felt and since it didn't go too well, he blames me. He wanted to punch me after it happened but the boys held him back and calmed him down before he did. I just feel terrible that she doesn't feel the same way he does. I could have sworn she did." He said trailing off looking to the side.

"But she does! That's the thing, I don't understand why she's being like this. Well, actually I know exactly why, but still!" I said raising my voice a little out of frustration towards the situation.

"What do you mean?" Jamie asked. "She likes him too?"

"Yes! But she loves having him as a friend and is afraid that if something happens then it will ruin their friendship and she will lose him as a boyfriend and a friend and she doesn't want that to happen." I explained.

Jamie was quiet for a bit, taking in everything I just said.

"I can see her point. I doubt she's going to come to the game tomorrow, is she?" He asked

"Probably not." I said regretfully.

"That's going to destroy him. She comes to every home game and if she's not in her seat...I just know he's going to have a terrible game." Jamie said trying to think of something to do to fix everything. "Do you think you can talk to her and see what she's thinking, tonight?" Jamie asked.

"She's pretty confused right now so I don't know what she's thinking or if she'll make up her mind by tomorrow. I'll see what I can do and I'll let you know." I told him and he nodded.

"I'm going to try to talk to him later too. I feel awful and I don't want him to go through something like this by himself. He worries me because he's not use to girls saying no to him." He let out a small laugh even though we both knew he was right.
