Chapter 39: Reunion

Washington opens his eyes, coughs, and looks at his hands to see them covered in blood. He turns to see Doc lying by the warthog, and a blurry black figure in the distance.

Washington: It can't be... Tex?

Wash turns to see a gun and dives for it, but is stopped by Tex, who puts her foot on Wash's arm and aims her battle rifle at him.

Washington: You're supposed to be dead.

Tex: Don't sound so disappointed. You'll make me cry. Where's the Director?

Washington: The Director? How would I know that?

Tex tuts.

Tex: Wrong answer...

~ Jeff Williams - Boss Battle ~

Before she can do anything to Wash, the Meta tackles her and sends her and her rifle flying away from each other. He charges towards Tex but she catches him in a powerful punch, knocking him to the ground. With a growl of anger and a frustrated punch to the ground, the Meta jumps up and throws powerful jabs at Tex, which she blocks. Tex punches him in the visor, and then brings his head down to her raised knee and kicks him back. Tex activates a detonator and sets off some explosives by her feet, revealing a heavy machine gun, which she grabs in midair before swinging it towards the Meta and opening fire. With a growl, the Meta runs across the field before diving behind an icy boulder. Behind Tex, Wash gets to his feet and whips out the capture unit, unveiling a large spike. Tex's machine gun runs out of ammo and the Meta takes this moment to return fire with his pistol. Tex ducks behind an icy boulder as well, and smashes the ice with her elbow and draws out an assault rifle and a battle rifle, and uses both to fire at the Meta. Wash runs up to her and thrusts the unit's spike at her, Tex ducks the blow but Wash manages to parry one of her guns away, and she knocks the capture unit out of his hands, sending it flying.

Washington: No!

Washington dives for the capture unit, stopping it just before it falls off the cliff.

Washington: Be more careful, this thing can't take any more hits!

You go back to Church, encountering Doc along the way.

Doc: On hey, (L/N), you're here too?

(L/N): Yeah, Tex decided to bring me along.

Doc: So why aren't you helping her?

(L/N): Because I'd like to keep my life. Going up against Washington and Meta is the exact opposite of that.

Penny appears.

Penny: Agent Tex does seem to have it handled.

Doc: Woah, cool! You have an A.I? Hey there green lady, my name's DuFresne, but you can call me Doc. What's your name?

Penny: My name is Penny Pol-

Church: Seriously, you're going to introduce yourselves when I'm injured?

Doc: Oh, right. Church, are you okay?

Church: She fuckin' shot me, Doc, what do you think?! What is wrong with her?

Doc: She did? That's what brought us to you!

(L/N): Yeah, she meant to do that.
