Okay, so this actually has nothing to do with WOF, but I wanted someone to read it anyway. This is just a part of a story I'm working on, and I would love some feedback as to what you think of it. And I am working on a Cleril one-shot and updates for my other books. Thanks! :)

He sat against the cold stone wall of the cell, willing himself not to cry. Attempting to take his mind off of everything, he focused on what he could see. The small prison cell, with its menacing iron bars preventing his escape. Blocking him off from the world- from her. Where was she? His eyes slammed shut as he relieved the previous moments of watching her fight against the guards as they pulled him away. The heart-stopping moment as she collapsed to the ground and didn't get back up. Davin screaming.

And then it had been over. They had thrown him in this place, and had dragged Davin away. Davin was too little for this. He was just a baby. They had no right to take him away from his parents, no matter who they were.

He wanted to scream. He'd only seen Davin for barely five minutes. Five minutes is far too short of a time. Especially when it's the first, and probably last time you'll ever see your son. But the world didn't care about that, and Bruja definitely didn't. She wanted him dead, and her daughter miserable, no matter what it took.

A single tear unwillingly slipped down his face. What happens now? He'd be killed soon, and Davin shortly after. The fact that Davin was only a child made no difference. Davin was his son, and Bruja's own grandson, but that didn't matter. Nothing anyone did would change her mind.

The prison was quiet, the only sounds being coughs and occasional murmurs from the other inmates. It was far too silent for his liking. He couldn't even see the stars from here. There had to be something, some small futile act of rebellion he could do. Anything.

If Davin isn't already dead, he thought with a pang. Bruja would keep him locked up in here- far away from me. But how can I help him if I'm stuck in here? He's probably terrified right now. He remembered something She had told him, in the split second moment before they were forced away from each other.

"I sing to him." She'd whispered. "All the time. It makes him feel better when I leave. Sometimes I show up to find him humming the songs." He wracked his brain. Songs. Music. It had been years since she had shown him the old music the humans used to play. They would memorize all the words, just in case the song wouldn't work next time. They used to spend hours in the dark, dancing and laughing, being happy. But that was a different time. That was before Bruja forbade her to see him again and she refused. Before they met secretly- before they went too far. Before Davin was born.

One old song stuck out in his mind and he leaned against the cell's bars as he hummed, pulling futility on them. The other inmates watched him as he began to slam himself against the bars, knowing they would never break, yet hoping they would. Slowly, they recognized what he was humming, and they joined him. When he stopped and collapsed against the bars, tears threatening to fall, they kept humming. He swallowed hard and began to sing the words, softly at first, but then louder. The other prisoners joined in behind him in this peaceful rebellion.

"You've got a hold of me
Don't even know your power
I stand a hundred feet
But I fall when I'm around you

Show me an open door
Then you go and slam it on me
I can't take anymore
I'm saying baby

Please have mercy on me" He slammed his hand against the bars, all of his anger and frustration pouring out in the words.

"Take it easy on my heart
Even though you don't mean to hurt me
You keep tearing me apart
Would you please have mercy, mercy on my heart
Would you please have mercy, mercy on my heart" The other inmates tapped on the bars of their cells to the music, humming along,

"I'd drive through the night
Just to be near you, baby
Heart old and testified
Tell me that I'm not crazy

I'm not asking for a lot
Just that you're honest with me
My pride is all I got
I'm saying baby

Please have mercy on me"  He rose to his feet and slammed his hands against the bars, shoving against them as hard as he could, tears beginning to fall down his face as memories ran through his head.
"Take it easy on my heart" Scenes flashed before his eyes. A day, years ago, when he snuck away at night with her and they swam in the pool, laughing and splashing water at each other until the sun began to rise. Her long hair was like a rainbow when it was wet.
"Even though you don't mean to hurt me
You keep tearing me apart" Tracing a map of the kingdom in the dirt, trying to find a new way to sneak in to see her.
"Would you please have mercy on me" The day she showed up at their meeting spot covered in blood and scratches, looking more scared then he'd ever seen her.
"I'm a puppet on your string
And even though you got good intentions
I need you to set me free" The day she told him he had a son, Bruja slamming him against the wall, threatening to kill him if he ever came back.
"Would you please have mercy, mercy on my heart" Dancing with her to forgotten music under the stars.
"Would you please have mercy, mercy on my heart" The look on her face the day they first told each other they were hopelessly in love.

"Consuming all the air inside my lungs
Ripping all the skin from off my bones
I'm prepared to sacrifice my life
I would gladly do it twice
Consuming all the air inside my lungs
Ripping all the skin from off my bones
I'm prepared to sacrifice my life
I would gladly do it twice"

Bruja glaring at them as they smiled, being beaten by the guards whenever he got too close, the heartbreak in her shining eyes when they were told that they were never to see each other again. Her fingers desperately clinging to his as they pulled them away from each other.

"Please have mercy on me
Take it easy on my heart
Even though you don't mean to hurt me
You keep tearing me apart
Would you please have mercy on me
I'm a puppet on your string
And even though you got good intentions
I need you to set me free"

The dozens of letters he kept sending, long after she wasn't allowed to get mail. The quiet nod from her brother, silently saying that he was on their side. The slight wince from her father, every time they were forced apart,as if they could see how dark her eyes got, how sad she became when he wasn't there. As if they could see everything Bruja didn't- or just didn't care about.

"I'm begging you for mercy, mercy
Begging you, begging you, please, baby
I'm begging you for mercy, mercy
Ooh, I'm begging you, I'm begging you"

He collapsed to the ground, sobbing. The other prisoners remained quiet, their own thoughts filled. He clung to the bars, his head low, his head filled with the sound of Davin- of his son, this little innocent child, screaming at the top of his lungs as he was carried away from the only two people he had ever met.
