                                        Sonakshi couldn't fathom how she ended up in such a situation, well obviously by lying, you dumbass her conscience called out, her inner dilemma was on display for Dev to see who haven't removed his eyes from her even after Praveen asked him that weird question people use words like mahilamitr ? ,of course she wants to get rid of him but she is looking so cute with her eyes closed, fucking adorable . His mischievous smirk from before returned as he moved closer to her.

Sona could feel that someone was standing close to her but she just couldn't open her eyes what if it's Praveen! oh god kill me now but wow he smells so nice "Hello girlfriend" Dev said leaning in close to her ear so only she could hear. Her eyes flew open as she staggered back at finding Dev so close to her,  her heartbeat skyrocketed at their proximity, "I'll help you" she felt butterflies swarming in her stomach at his raspy whisper and he winked at her before turning towards Praveen whose all doubts from earlier had vanished after seeing them so close, but it was only after Dev's next words he got the memo that he was not welcomed "Yes, she is my girlfriend! Stay away from her" The possessiveness in his tone surprised Sona wow! he is a good actor she thought, if only she saw his face, which had Praveen shaking.

"Sona ji aapne humare dil ko kshati pahuchai hai, hum to aapko bholi gaiya samjh rahe the kintu aap....shama kijiyega hume jana hoga" Praveen said before literally running away from their leaving a gawking Sonakshi behind, she looked at Dev to confirm if that really happened, he nodded in response as if saying Yes he actually ran away after calling you a cow.

"Yeh sati (kshati) kya hota hai or vo unlcle bhag kyun gaye ?" Aarohi asked looking in the direction where Praveen ran, while Sonakshi and Dev looked at each other and burst out laughing at the absurd situation they just experienced.

Dev couldn't move his eyes from Sonakshi as she continued laughing, the way her eyes crinkled, her lips parted as her whole face lighted up with a smile it had him transfixed, sensing his intense gaze Sonakshi stopped laughing and the butterflies from earlier returned, their eyes locked and for a moment time stopped, as if it was just them while everything else blurred out, both their pupils dilated as they felt unknown emotions rushing inside them, it was Dev who looked away first when he heard Sonakshi's phone ringing, as if suddenly coming out of a trance Sonakshi picked up her phone hurriedly while her cheeks heated up. Ele greeted her on the other side "Hello sona! I had an important assignment to finish so I came home."

"What! Ele you were supposed to call me before you left idiot, now how will I come home" Sonakshi asked exasperated, Dev who was listening in offered without giving it much thought "If you don't mind I can drop you off"

"Who was that?" Elena asked at the man's voice while Sona asked her to shut up making Dev raise his eyebrows "It was not meant for you" Sonakshi rushed to explain while cutting her call "but I really don't want to be a bother especially after whatever just happened I'll call a cab."

"It's especially after whatever just happened that you won't be bother at all " Dev teased with a charming smile on his face which warmed Sona's inside as her heart skipped a beat. "but seriously take it as my thank you for taking care of Aaru yesterday"

"oh please it should be me thanking you for literally being my saving grace just now Mr.off...I don't know your name" She said sheepishly catching herself before saying Mr. officer.

Dev amused by her bluntness, forwarded his hand "Dev... Dev Dixit"

"Sonakshi Bose" She replied grinning shaking his hand, warmness zinged through their bodies at the contact before they reluctantly broke it.

"OK but ..Well I- I actually wanted to say sorry for shouting at you and today calling yo...."

"You don't have to explain yourself Sonakshi" Dev said cutting her off, her name felt so right coming from his mouth, she barely stopped herself from swanning at him like crazy. His words confused himself though, he didn't understand why he said that, if it was anyone else right now he would have made them apologize himself, he was not someone, one could just mess around with and he would let them go so simply but with Sonakshi he did, not just that but he even helped her out without her saying anything, She was bringing out the side of him which was only reserved for his family without even trying. What is it about you Sonakshi? he mused thoughtfully before dropping it off. She was confusing him.

They were seated at a different table now after Sonakshi agreed to let Dev drop her. She was helping Aarohi clean her face and fingers after she messily finished eating her burger. It surprised Dev how comfortable Aarohi was with Sonakshi because Aarohi was also very reserved in giving her affections to people just like him, and he could see that she liked Sonakshi.

"So you're an IPS officer" Sonakshi asked again conversationally while Dev was leisurely sitting in his chair like he owned the place, his eyes intense as usual looked at her Does he give these intense looks to everyone, like he is looking in their soul Sona thought while meeting his gaze head on. They have been doing that a lot, trying to out win each other in their undeclared stare match. "Yeah" he drawled out, for someone looking from the outside their conversation would appear very innocent but it was their eyes that had a language of their own, only interpreted and felt by their heart.

Dev tilted his head to right, as if trying to figure her out, while Sonakshi unable to contain her smile at his open stare turned to Aarohi breaking their eye contact, making Dev chuckle under his breathe, after which he immediately frowned realizing what he was doing. This was so unlike him, why was his heart feeling like it was growing in his chest and what was this warm feeling, he didn't like being so out of control of himself. He had to leave before he did anything else out of behaviour.

"I think we should leave"

"Yeah let's go"

They headed out unaware of the pair of eyes that was watching them like a hawk from the moment Dev entered the food court. His eyes glinted evilly as a sadistic smile crossed his face, he dialed someone to let them know what he just found out and the person on the other side laughed maliciously at the news before crashing his phone in the wall as the line went dead. "Finally Dixit, you're going to pay for your every sins."

"Angel I've to tell you something but promise me you won't get angry at me" Sonakshi asked turning around before getting out of the car as they parked in front of her house.

"Plomise" Aarohi said keeping her tiny hand in Sona's.

"Sorry Angel, I'm not your Chachu's girlfriend but his friend" She added "maybe" after sensing Dev's sudden change in demeanour, his grip tightened on the steering wheel subconsciously but feeling Sonakshi's gaze, he tried to calm himself down, he didn't have any clue as to why he reacted like that when Sonakshi clarified that she is not his girlfriend but what he knew was he didn't like it, he didn't like it one bit.

"You lied to me" Aarohi pouted but added " It's okay mumma says if one says sorry then we should forgive them"

"Aww you're the best angel" Sonakshi averted her gaze from Dev and pulled Aarohi's cheek before thanking Dev again who smiled in return making her relax and bid them bye.
