Chapter 1 - A mistake she paid with her death

She was once a little girl who was innocence to the world. She had no worries and kept a smile on her face the whole time. She had a family who adored and spoiled her. She had two older brothers who were overprotective of her. Her dad was a high-rank prime minister, and her mom was the cousin of the Empress. She had everything everyone could wish for. She was beyond happy. Everything was perfect until she met Kevin. The man who was her world and the man who ended her. He was her fairytale and he was also her worst nightmare.

The first time she met Kevin was at the royal banquet at the castle. He was standing in the corner of the ballroom, looking strikingly handsome. His eyes were the deepest shade of brown and his silky, short hair was the color of black. He was above average height and one could tell that he was well built, and not at least a prince.

When she walked into the ballroom, their eyes met. Everything stopped and she felt like there were only he and she in the ballroom. No one else mattered. Then she got this strange, yet, amazing feelings. She couldn't describe it but all she knew was that she liked it. She loved it. Crystal was unconsciously falling for him.

They started to see each other after that event. Her feelings for him became stronger and stronger every time they were together. Her love for him bloomed too fast until it reached to a point of nowhere to return.

She did so much for him. She gave him everything. Her love, her faith, her trust and she even abused her family's power for him. Everything she did was to help him, for their future. It was all for love. Unknowingly to her, he was such a good actor. Manipulating her mind into doing all the nasty stuff for him. He utilized her love for his gain. He showered her with sweet talks and promised to marry her. He told her that he fell for her, that he loved her and she believed him. She freaking believed him!

Kevin desired to take over the crown prince title. He convinced her to help him. He brainwashed her and convinced her that this was all for their future. If he could become the crown prince then she would be his crown princess. She, of course, helped him. She was willing anyway because she loved him. Her love for him was so great that it became poisonous for her. The fact that her mother was the cousin of the empress and that her father had immense power, she obtained it easily. The empress and her father, of course, wanted to help her.

Soon, Kevin finally became the crown prince. He was ecstatic.

One day he invited her to come to his courtyard and of course, she came. She beamed as she reached Kevin's courtyard, but her smile immediately fell when she saw him embracing another girl.

A feeling of betrayal arose within her body. Why was he embracing another girl?

Crystal stared at them. Her eyes stung and became red. She tried to touch him, but he pushed her away. Kevin looked away from her as he held the girl in his arms tighter. "Kevin?" She cried out. He faced her with unfamiliar cold eyes.

His mouth arched up in a cold smirk and he rolled his eyes at this pathetic girl whom he used for his personal gain. He ignored her and ignited the hurt and pain she was feeling when he started to trail some light kisses on the girl's neck.

"What the hell are you doing?!" She glared at them and rushed forwards to pull them away from each other, but before she could touch them, a black silhouette came out of nowhere and slapped her face hard.

She fell straight down to the ground. Her cheek was kissing the grass as painful tears fell down her cheeks. No one, not even her father, had laid a hand on her. She sat up and faced the man who slapped her. She glared at the black silhouette and realized it was Kevin's shadow guard.

"You-", she could not say anything. Her eyes became swollen as she sniffled. She felt so pathetic and weak. She glanced at the man she loved and a feeling of hatred formed inside of her. Kevin was still embracing the girl and stared at her, bored.

"Why are you doing this?!" She angrily yelled.

"You are so naive, Crystal", Kevin chuckled and let go of the girl who was comfortable in his embrace. He slowly walked towards her. Fury, anger, and nervousness were all she felt.

"W-what do you mean?" She looked at the familiar, yet, unfamiliar man approaching her.

"Tch, tch", he slightly shook his head.

"Did you really think I love you?", he spat. Crystal's breath hitched and she had trouble breathing normally. A stream of tears fell as she clenched her fists, her nails digging into her flesh. She bit her lips and angrily glared at him. She hastily raised her hand and slapped his face hard. *Pak!

Kevin's face went to the side. He licked his lower lip and chuckled. "Poor Crystal...you are such a fool. It's a pity", he said and arose. He was acting like the slap never happened.

"You son of a b*itch!", she yelled at him. When she tried to rise up and beat him again, the shadow guard immediately held her down. No matter how hard she struggled, she was trapped.

"With your looks and power, I could take you in as a concubine but...", he turned around and looked lovingly at the girl behind them before he continued.

"You know...my girl would not like it. So, the only opportunity is to kill you."

Did I hear wrong? Does that bastard want to kill me? For a girl? 

"Why the h*ll should you kill me?! What rights do you have?!" She was so furious.

"Of course, I have the rights. I'm the crown prince, remember?" Kevin smirked and stared right through her eyes.

"You jerk! Have you forgotten who helped you to where you're today?! I tossed away my pride for you and begged the empress and my father! I loved you with all my heart! Why?! Why are you doing this to me?!" She cried out.

Kevin stood in the same place and listened to all she said. His expression darkened a little.

"You are really a fool, Crystal! Did you really think I love you?! Naah! I had never and will never ever love you in my whole life! I used you to get the crown prince title! Get this in your little head!"

Her face was stained with tears. She was suffocated with hatred and all she wanted was to end him.

"You will never be the crown princess, not even the empress because you are not qualified!" Kevin took out a dagger from his pocket and raised it towards her. She took several steps back.

"You won't kill me", she said with slight fear.

He smirked and slowly said, "Watch me". He aimed at her heart and drove the dagger straight in. Blood immediately stained crystal's dress as she stared at him in shock. The man who she loved had the nerve to kill her!

She coughed out a lot of blood and looked at the handsome face. She laughed in self mock. If only she could turn back time...

"You should thank me for killing you this way", he sadly whispered into her ear so that only they could hear what he said. She stared into his regretful eyes before everything turned black. 

Hey, beauties! I know it has been a long time. So I can't decide whether to finish editing all of the previous chapters and then republish them or edit them one by one then republish them one by one. The first option can take a long time and the second option can also take a long time.
