The sins were heading back to the Bifrost with Hel before she grabbed Ban's arm and pulled him off to the side, waving for the other sins to continue, "I want you to know that I didn't just help you out of the goodness of my heart, I require something from you in return." Her serious gaze concerned Ban to no end.

He stared at her for a second before responding, "Wait, what? I thought you liked Janis as much as we do? Why would you need something in return?"

"I do, believe me, Janis is like a much younger sister to me, and thinking about what my brother is doing to here right now scares me more than it could ever scare you; I know my brother far better, and have seen what atrocities he is capable of." Sadness filled her eyes and Ban could practically see the horrible flashback she was immersed in, "But that doesn't change the fact that I want something in return for helping to free her."

"What do you want me to do?"

"Confess your feelings to her," She shook her head and smiled mischievously, "I have been trying to get you two together for months now, and nothing I've done has worked. Do you know how frustrating it is to watch as you two circle around each other continuously without ever getting too close?" Ban was speechless at her words, his mouth opening and closing silently, like a fish, "Yeah, I know you were hurt when Elain died, but you don't have to worry about that, I've talked to her, and she wants you two to get together just as much as I do."

A sound like a squeak came out of Ban, "Elain... Wants me to... move on?"

"Yes you dull man," Hel rolled her eyes and continued, "Ideally, she would want to be with you, but since you are immortal, and she is dead, she just wants to see you happy; I do believe her exact words were, 'I want to live vicariously through his love life since I have none of my own,'" She laughed lightly, "Besides, I do believe she and Janis' brother are starting to have a thing for one another."

This last bit of information was too much for Ban, and he stumbled against a wall, looking totally lost, "She's in love, with someone else?"

Hel blinked, realizing that telling him that might not have been the best idea, "Yes, but so are you," Her voice was cautious, and she started walking away, waving her hand back at him, "Anyways, confess to Janis or I take her with me to the Necropolis."

She walked away, leaving the poor man to absorb this latest information.

Janis' POV

I was surrounded by darkness and filled with pain, there was no stimulus to let me know how long I had been here, except for Fenris coming down to 'play' with me. He came down every now and then to test new torture techniques, I couldn't help but feel that he had been waiting to try these things out since before I was born, if only because of the malicious grin on his wolf-like face as he hurt me.

At the beginning, I tried my best to keep track of time, but the only way to measure anything was the drag of chains whenever Fenris came. I wasn't about to lie, it was not a way I liked, but it was better than nothing; he enjoyed mocking me about my lack of a future. As he loved reminding me, Hel had only been able to save me once, I was his to do with as he wanted now... what a fun eternity.

The slither of chains against the stone pulled me out of the daze I had fallen into, I slouched against the stone wall I was chained to and waited for my captor to enter the room, brandishing whatever torture weapon he wanted to use on me this time.

"Sister, you never cease to irritate me, once again you've come to take away my favorite toy." Fenris' smooth voice echoed down the hall, and I lifted my head weakly, trying to understand the words I thought I heard, "I can't believe you even went to grandfather even."
