Laura Wesser looked like she belonged on the set of "Suits" instead of inside an actual law office with her shiny hair, shiny shoes, and tailored to fit Calvin Klein dress. She was a divorce attorney to the stars and Demi never thought that she would have to meet with a divorce lawyer yet there she was on Tuesday morning, nervously twisting her engagement ring around her finger as she sat next to Kris in the polished office. As soon as Kris heard that Demi hadn't filed the divorce papers, she had launched herself into action and demanded a meeting with Laura. Luckily, Cristo was still in Paris and she had promised to keep Trey updated. Considering the fact that they really didn't have anything to split or fight about, she didn't really need him for the divorce proceedings. All he had to do was sign his part of the paperwork and show up for court.

"Demi, I understand that you want this done as quickly as possible but even if we were to go the easy route, which is a summary dissolution, it would still take six months. The only difference is with the summary dissolution, six months is the set time that you have to wait. With the divorce, six months is the minimum wait time," Laura explained after Kris had told her about their little...situation.

"There's absolutely nothing that you can do to speed this up? I want a summer wedding and if I'm still married to someone else..." Demi trailed off because she didn't even want to think about it.

She had told Cristo so much about her past and her relationship with Trey but she hadn't said a single word about the fact that they had gotten married. It sounded ridiculous now but it had honestly slipped her mind, and now it was all that she could think about.

"Technically, you can still have your summer wedding. Your marriage just won't be valid, it won't mean anything until you are divorced from Trey," Laura said as Kris pursed her lips and Demi released a small huff.

"In your professional opinion, what's the easiest way to take care of this?" Kris questioned, adjusting the lapel of her Chanel trench coat as Laura fiddled with her red ink pen.

"A summary dissolution would work if you guys weren't celebrities who owned hundreds of thousands of dollars in property. So, a divorce is the way to go. I have friends in high places so if we get everything squared away by the end of the week, I will make sure a judge gets them so that your six month waiting period can start at the end of the week. So, in September, you'll be a free woman. I know it's not what you want to hear but it's the best that I can do," Laura stated as Demi looked over at Kris who nodded.

"Okay..."

"The six months is really just a California law thing. It's the state's way of making sure that you really want to do this, and judging by the fact that you just got engaged, you do. I wish I could offer a better solution to you but all I can say is I'll have the papers drawn up by the end of the day. Sign them, send them back to me, I'll send them to Trey. Even if he's going to be difficult about this situation, we don't need him to make the petition. He can't force you to stay married to him. I'll take care of it, Demi. Quietly. I promise," Laura smiled as she offered her hand for a shake, so Demi took it as she released a deep breath.
