Chapter 8:

((Deborah's POV))

(8:36 P.M.)

I haven't heard anything for a few minutes now.

I slowly opened the outhouse door and stepped out.

"What the fuck is happening?" I murmured to myself.

I slowly walked to one of the cabins, extra cautious about my surroundings.

I got there and the door was barricaded. I went to the side and opened up a window. I climbed in and as soon as my feet hit the floor, the power went out.

I looked back outside and saw other cabins were out too.

Fuck, he knocked out a power unit. Is this fucking real? Jason is REAL?

"PLEASE! NOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!" I heard in the distance.

Tiffany? Jenny?

Suddenly, a hand was on my shoulder. I turned around fast, ready to attack.

"Sshhhh..." Adam said.

AJ was in the corner hiding along with Mitch. I walked into the back room with them and sat down.

"Did you see anyone else?" AJ asked.

I shook my head.

"I told you, we need to walk to the radio room."  Mitch said.

"Mitch, no" Adam scoffed.

"Tommy's dealt with this before, the frequency is already set-"

"NO."

"We're going to die here just sitting." Mitch said.

"We'll die faster running out of here."

"He cut the power out, Mitch" AJ said.

"On this district," Mitch explained. "But over there, that tower is still lit up."

Adam raised his voice.

"Mitch, no for fuck's sake. We are waiting for the police."

"Boy, how are you going to get them here? The phone is at the main house, where he cut the power. We contact Tommy, he can call the police."

"NO."

"Mitch is right guys," I chimed in. "We can't sit here."

Mitch stood up beside me.

"Deb and I can go take a look at the tower, while you two stay here and radio us if you get in trouble."

He handed Adam a walkie.

"Where'd you get that?" Adam asked.

"I--uh.." Mitch hesitated.

"Does that matter right now? Jesus. Let's go, Mitch." I said.

We climbed out that back window and started sneaking across the fields. When we got to taller grass I stopped.

"Why do you have walkies?" I asked.

"I thought that didn't matter."

"If you knew something about this, or if this is one big prank, now's the time to fess up."

"No, it's not like that."

"Then what's it like?" I demanded.

"I only took this job because I don't got a home." he said.

I stared at him for a while, feeling embarassed.

"Look, I-uh....took these walkies to sell and I swear I was going to give the money back but my daughter's birthday is coming and she's with her mom and I--"
