Chapter 50

Zayden and I were the most opposite twins anyone could think of. The only similarities we had was our looks and our love for dance. Besides those two things, I didn't think there was anything that we did the same.

One of the main things being how I was a morning person and Zayden liked sleeping in until at least noon. The best part of me waking up early was how I could eat all the food that he wanted to eat, but he never woke up early enough for.

       Like bacon.

I was always so surprised that the smell of bacon cooking didn't wake him up, but it never bothered me. More bacon for me since Dad was currently running errands, and Mom and Willow didn't care too much for bacon.

Unfortunately, Zayden ended up waking while I was cooking bacon, and came to the kitchen. "Ooh, bacon," he said. "Don't mind if I do."

"Well, I do mind," I said. "I'm the one making it, so go get your own bacon."

"Are there any more packs of bacon left?" Zayden asked.

I shrugged. "I don't know. You're going to have to look for yourself."

Zayden sighed dramatically before heading to the freezer to see if there were any packs left. I knew there was since Dad made sure we never ran out of bacon, but I felt like being a pain to Zayden for all the times he was a pain to me.

After I finishing cooking my bacon, I sat at the table with the delicious food along with a glass of chocolate milk. "So, why exactly are you up so early?" I asked Zayden as he grabbed a package of bacon out of the freezer.

"I ended up waking up because of the sun in my room and I couldn't really fall asleep like I normally do," Zayden said. "I have too much on my mind."

       "Like what?" I asked.

"Like Yvonne being kicked out of the studio," Zayden said. "When very competitive people don't get their way, they'll try doing whatever they can in order to make their most hated team to lose."

"Yeah, and Echo said she feels like things aren't going to down easily," I said. "Honestly, I don't see much that Yvonne can do. How exactly can she make our team lose?"

Zayden was about to reply, but then the front door opened, followed by our dear-wonderful cousin calling out, "The most amazing person has arrived! You may now applause!"

"Go away!" Zayden called back. "No one likes you!"

Kingsley soon walked into the kitchen before glaring at Zayden. "You're a jerk," he said as he sat down at the table with me. "So, what are you people talking about?"

"Yvonne," I said. "Echo thinks Yvonne isn't finished with us, but I don't see what she can do."

"Uh, joining an enemy team," Zayden said in an obvious tone. "Any team would love to take a dancer who was currently in another studio and knows all of their dances."

"True," I said. "But you do know we're going to the international competition, right? Only one team per country is allowed. How on earth can she join another team? She'll have to move to another country in order to do so, and get a citizenship. I don't think it's going to be possible."

"Huh, why didn't I think of that?" Zayden asked.

       "Because you're stupid," I said.

"Yeah? And so is your face," Zayden shot back.

I didn't even know why I bothered with Zayden at times when he was too inferior to me.

"Wow, that was the best comeback I ever heard," Kingsley said. "Amazing. Absolutely amazing."

"Thank you, I try," Zayden said.

"That was sarcasm," I said. "We have the same face, dimwit. You basically said your own face is stupid."

Zayden didn't reply. He just stuck his tongue out at me before starting to cook his pack of bacon.

Normally, I didn't share my bacon with anyone. Actually, I never shared my bacon with anyone except for Kingsley. He was as obsessed with the deliciousness as I was, and he had done so much for me that I couldn't exactly refuse to share with him.

And once when I refused, he grabbed one of the bacon slices and slapped me in the face with it. I would rather not go through that again, so I just let him have some of my bacon.

I didn't even object when he grabbed a piece without asking because I was so used to it. "About the whole Yvonne thing," Kingsley said. "Rhys is right. I don't see exactly what she can do to tear us down since it is Internationals we're heading to. There's no way she can ruin it for us."

"Don't jinx it," Zayden said. "Evil witches always find their way around a loophole. I bet you anything she'll still find her way around it if you say she can't find her way around it. And if I say she'll find her way around it, then maybe she won't find her and and she'll leave us alone."

"You lost me at loophole," Kingsley said.

"It's okay, he lost me as soon as he started talking," I said. "I tend to tune him out."

"Why are you so mean to me all the time, Rhys?" Zayden.

"Okay, I'm rarely mean to you," I said. "Name at least... three times I've been mean to you.

"You called me stupid," Zayden said. "You won't share your bacon with me. You have my contact name as Inferior Twin in your phone. Oh, and let's not forget how you decided to date the girl I liked first."

"Hey, you told me you're over her and I can date her," I said. "That's all on you."

Speaking of Echo, my cell phone started to ring with her name flashing across the screen. Zayden noticed and said, "Girlfriend thief."

I ignored him and answered the call before holding the cell phone up to my ear. "Hey," I said. "What's up?"

Echo immediately sighed. "Something bad. Yvonne found a way to get back at us."

       "You're kidding," I said. "How?"

"Remember when she recorded all of the routines so she can practice them at home?" Echo asked. "Yeah, she decided to post them online. All of them."

"When you say all, you mean..."

"The dances she would have had to fill in with one of us got hurt or sick," Echo said. "The group dance, the semi-finals, the finals, our duet."

       Zayden was right.

Wicked witches always find their way around everything.

"But... There's a chance no other team will see them, right?" I asked.

"A lot of them already saw them," Echo said.

"I can't believe it," I said. "I'll tell my dad about it when he gets home."

"Okay," Echo said. "And you know what this means?"

"Yeah," I said. "We're going to have to change the routines. And Internationals is next month."
