She slowly walked through the foggy forest, clutching the straps of her backpack. One quick look at her and everyone would assume she was just another hiker in the woods. Few people knew differently.
She was seventeen when she moved out of her parents house, which is now six years ago. She misses her family every day, but it's not like she ever could go back. So she kept going.
A twig snapped somewhere behind her, a bit to the left, and she stopped walking, reaching for the blade that was strapped to her belt, her hand firmly closed around the handle. She heard it running towards her, closing in on her. She swiftly turned around while pulling out the silver blade, and forcefully swung it. Blood spattered on her clothes and her face as she heard the sickening sound of the blade rushing through the neck of the vampire. His head fell to the ground with a thud and his body followed quickly after.
Kendall smiled to herself. Another successful hunt.
