⇢ Chapter 10

Kai's P.O.V

"Now turn left here" Michi mumbled for what seemed to be the hundredth time already.

We had been driving for approximately three hours already. If I had of known this 'simple' trip to the airport was going to be this long, then I would've still reconsidered going in all honesty.

Not to mention that I was tired as ever from not sleeping much the night before, but I knew I couldn't sleep since I was driving, and just wanted to get to the airport as soon as possible.

"Honestly, how much longer until we get there?" I groaned, but kept my eyes on the orange road that had the dawn-set sun radiating off of it.

"Michi promises that it's just a few more minutes away!" She mumbles again, sounding half awake. She was in the same situation as me, she wasn't able to sleep either since she obviously had to tell me which direction to go.

"That's what you said an hour ago.." I uttered quietly, but just accepted my fate.

The only thing keeping me awake at this point were the mini heart attacks I would get when I thought a car was going to smash into me. As I said, I haven't driven in a long time, and I'm less confident now, but I'm slowly getting better, the road rules never really acquired to me back then since we broke them a lot, but my memory was half decent.

"I can try to take over for you if you want? You seem kind of tired." I heard Ein suddenly whisper to me, barely audible, but my large cat ears heard him.

"Ein? I thought you were asleep." I smiled, looking over at him for a second before turning back to the road. Something about him made me want to keep looking at him, strange.

"Uhh.. Yeah, I was, but I woke up" He replied and let out a small laugh.

I just smiled in return, but could see him starring at me from the corner of my eye. Getting curious about this, I turned my head to look at him, meeting his eyes instantly and starring back at him.

We starred at eachother for a few seconds, getting almost lost in eachothers gaze, that I didn't even notice the red traffic light infront of us as I kept on driving.

"Watch out!" I heard Michi shriek from behind us, causing me to whip my head forward to see that we were about to smash into the back of a car that stopped for the red traffic light.

My eyes widened as I quickly slammed the breaks of the car just in time, us being only inches away from the car.

"Holy crap, I'm so sorry" I said slowly, panting out of fear.

"Gosh! Focus on the road! You could have destroyed Michi's car!" Michi cried out and glared at me.

"What happened? Why is everybody yelling?" I heard Ryder sheepishly yawn from behind us, noting that he was awaken from his slumber by our screaming.

"Oh nothing, just that Kai~Kun almost killed us!" Michi teased.

"What?!" Ryder yelled "I suddenly don't feel safe in this vehicle" He retorted and hugged closer to Jax, who seemed to still be asleep. It was understandable since Jax could literally sleep through anything.

"D-Don't worry, I've got it, I'll focus now.." I assured quietly in shaky breaths, still being shaken up by the previous event.
