Chapter 3

Valerie's POV

It's the next day and I know I'm not in my bed. I realize that I'm at Matt and Gabbie's house. I must've been wasted last night cause I don't remember a thing. My phone rings and I get up from the bed and walk over to the dresser and grab it from my purse. I didn't pick it up in time but, I see I have 15 missed calls. I check and it was all from Hank, Erin, and Jay. (Yes I still have Jay's number). I set my phone down and head over and made the bed. As I made the bed, Matt comes in.

"Morning sleepyhead" said Matt

"Hey, how wasted was I last night?" I asked

"Totally wasted" Matt laughed

"Wonderful" I face palmed

"Anyways, Hank is looking for you. He needs to ASAP"

"Do you know what it is about?"

"Someone broke into your apartment last night"

"Oh my god..."

"I'll take you"

"Thanks, just let me freshen up"

"Sure no problem. I left a new toothbrush in the bathroom for you"

Matt leaves and I head into the bathroom and wash my face and brush my teeth. I re-do my hair and put it up into a high bun. I wash all of the makeup off from last night and just re-applied the mascara. I grab my bag and head out to the kitchen.

"Hey Val, do you want anything to eat before you go?" asked Gabbie

"I'm fine thank you" I said

"You ready?" Matt asked

"Yeah. Let's go" I said

We both said our goodbyes to Gabbie and headed out of the house and Matt drove me to my house where Hank was.

We arrived and there was Hank and the team. I got out of the car.

"Do you need me to stay?" Matt asked

"I'm good. I'll give you a call on what I find out" I said

Matt drives off and I head over where the team was.

"Hey guys" I said

"Hey Valerie, sorry about this" said Erin giving me a hug

"It's alright. What do we know so far?" I asked

"Okay well, according to the neighbors they said they heard loud noises coming from your apartment. They thought you were home organizing things in your apartment. They said the time was around 12am" said Burgess

"Do you have any enemies or people close to you who would do this?" Hank asked

"No. Not that I know of" I said

"We're gonna grab the footages from the street cameras and find out who did this" said Antonio

"Thanks. Mind if I can go inside and see?" I asked

"Yeah, sure no problem." said Erin

I walked in and my apartment was trashed. Everything was destroyed. The tables were flipped, there was shattered glass everywhere, and pictures were destroyed. I remember I had a safe in my room, in my closet. I went in and checked and it was open. I looked inside and it was empty. I kept money and a flash drive in there. The flash drive has all of my private information in it. The flash drive basically had my life story in it. It also held a secret.

"Hey, Val we gotta go" said Jay walking in

"Huh? Oh yeah. Let's go" I said avoiding eye contact
