Chapter 11

Val's POV

I answered the door and it was Kelly. To be honest, he kinda ruined the moment Jay and I just had.

"Kelly, what are you doing here?" I asked stepping aside for him to come in

"I just got off shift and though maybe we could go out for breakfast?" he said

"Oh, well I just ate. I'm about to head to the precinct with Jay" I said

"Oh hey Jay, didn't see you there" Kelly said

"Right. You ready to go Val, Voight's waiting" Jay said rolling his eyes

"Something bothering you bro?" Kelly said shoving Jay

"Yeah, I'm running late" Jay said pushing Kelly off

"Guys please" I said trying to stop them before things escalate

"No, something else is bothering you" Kelly said shoving Jay harder than before

"Back of man" Jay said shoving harder

"Or what Jay? What're you gonna do?" Kelly said getting face to face with Jay

I step in between them with my back towards Kelly and facing Jay.

"Can we just go. Please?" I said looking up at Jay

We both walk out leaving Kelly standing there. We got to the car and got in. The ride was silent. I could tell that Jay was angry. He gripped the steering wheel tightly causing his knuckles to turn white. Once we got to the precinct, Jay parked the car and we sat here for a few minutes.

"Are you good?" I asked

"I'm fine. Don't worry about it." he said

"I'm sorry about Kelly by the way. He has a short temper"

"Why do you have feelings for that dick anyways?"

"Who says I do? He's just a friend"

"Yeah right. You both flirt with each other everytime you see each other"

"Why do you care with who I flirt with? It's not like we're together anyways" I said

"You're right. We aren't together. So go do what you do best and go sleep with every guy you flirt with" he said

"Is that what you think of me?"

"Not just me. Everyone else too"

"Unbelievable. Think whatever you want. You wanna be like that? Fine."

"Game on" Jay said with a smirk

"This ain't a game!" I said throwing my arms up

"Mhm"

"I'm heading up first. I'm gonna leave you here and let you clear your head and rethink what you just said" I said getting out the car and slamming the door hard

As I make my way up the stairs, Jay gets out the car and rushes up and blocks the entrance.

"Move" I said

"Tell me what you want" Jay said leaning up against the door crossing his arms across his chest

"I said move" I said trying to get around him but he blocks every move

"Tell me what you want" he says again looking directly into my eyes

"Everything okay here?" Adam says as he makes his way in

"Everything's fine" Jay says

"Game on" I said leaning in close to Jay whispering in his ear before heading in with Adam

Adam buzzes us in and we both head up. Everyone was at their desks organizing their work. I put my stuff down at my desk and headed towards Voight's office. I knocked before heading in.

"Hey boss" I said

"Welcome back. How ya feeling?" Voight asked

"I'm better than ever. I'm 100 percent"

"Good cause the district is hosting an event tonight and I want you there"

"Don't worry, I'll be there"

"Great. You may go"

Jay's POV

I buzzed myself in and made my way up. I placed my things down at my desk and made my way to Voight's office. Right as I head in, Valerie comes out.

"Jay, come in and shut the door" Voight said

"What's going on?" I asked

"I could ask the same to you"

"Nothing Serg"

"Mhm. I want you to keep your relationships and work separate. I don't want it here. Got that?"

"As always. There won't be a problem. I'll keep my distance tonight. You have my word"

"I got my eyes on you"

I open the door and head out to my desk. I see Erin and Kim head over to Val's desk talking about something. I try to listen but Adam and Kevin come over.

"So what's going on between you two?" Kevin asks

"Nothing. We got into a little argument before heading here" I said

"Are you guys gonna go together tonight?" Adam asks

"I don't think it's a good idea. I'm gonna try to keep my distance tonight" I said

"$100 bucks you won't?" Adam says

"Deal" I said shaking his hand

"I'd love to see this" Kevin laughs

"What's so funny over there?" Erin asks

"Just talking about tonight's event" I said

"You guys can bring a guest if you'd like" says Trudy walking up the stairs

"Even better" Val says looking straight at me

"Ooo girl whatcha wearing?" Kim asks turning back to the conversation she was having with Erin and Val

"I really need to get my shit together" I whispered and slamming my fist on the desk

"You good?" Adam asks

"I'm fine" I said

"So, this Luis case is now closed. Any word on the streets about anything suspicious?" Voight asks coming out of his office

"There's actually a problem. I did a little digging and this case isn't over" Trudy says

"What's going on?" Antonio asks

"What I got here in this file is everything you need to know" Trudy says handing the file to Antonio

Antonio opens up the file and reads it over.

"It looks like Luis ran a gang on the South side neighborhood. Notes here says that the gang must finish what was started" Antonio says

"So that means what was started was when Luis attacked Val. The gang's still after her" said Adam

"I don't know why. I did nothing to Luis" Val said

"Right now, no where is safe. You're our top priority." Erin said

"We'll switch between shifts to look out for you" Voight says

"You don't have to. She can stay with me" I said

"That's not necessary" Val says

"Let's just take shifts for now. I want names, addresses, everything that are associated with each of the members written down. Let's catch these son of a bitches and end this once and for all" Voight says

"You got it boss" said Kevin
