adachi yuto. the quiet boy from japan. the boy who spent his nights after his part time job painting. the boy who would sell his pieces at prices that seemed too low for the quality. the boy who stocked shelves with food to be able to afford more canvases and paints. the boy who was distant from everyone.
that's where he found himself tonight. he was taking bags of chips out of boxes and placing them out. he stood up when he heard the bell above the door ring. he looked to see a smiling boy walking in and over to him.
"adachi, my man. my favorite cashier. so good to see you." he gave him a pat on the back and picked some chips out of the box before walking to the coolers near the back.
"hyunggu." was all he said. he put out a few more bags and picked up the box, bringing to the storage room behind the counter. he came out to see the boy placing his items on the counter. he walked over and slowly began to ring the other's stuff up.
"so there's a party tomorrow. you should come." hyunggu said. he leaned on the counter and rested his head in his hand. "it would be nice to see you there."
"listen, man. i only know you because you're in here for snacks all of the time. i-"
"adachi, you hurt me. we went to high school together. you let me copy your homework. we were pals!"
"and yet you still refer to me by my last name."
"because i respect you. just try to make it. please? for me?" hyunggu leaned forward even more. his eyes were large, practically pleading with him. yuto just sighed, handing over the plastic bag full of food.
"fine. but i don't know where it-"
"i'll text you the address. oh and here." the younger handed yuto his phone. "jacked your phone and put my number in it. see you tomorrow."
hyunggu was out the door before the older could say anything. yuto went back into the back and looked at the boxes he still needed to put out. he hadn't realized he zoned out until he heard the ringing of the bell again, reminding him that he did indeed have to work. he dragged himself to the front and watched the guy who came in.
he was tall with black hair hanging just over his eyebrows. there was no color on anything he wore. even though he had a large build, he moved around the store with grace. yuto didn't know how long the guy had been in there or how long he had been staring at him until he turned and looked him directly in the eye.
"staring is impolite." he said. yuto stiffened after hearing the guy's deep voice, but his gaze didn't waver. the guy joined him at the counter and set a bag of chips on the counter. "alright."
yuto rubbed his eyes and rang him up. the guy took the bag and set $10 on the counter. he gave him a small salute and headed out the door. yuto looked down at it and rubbed his eyes again.
