After Sean and I finished up our jobs, we got ready and headed to the beach. We were going to spend the day with the Toma team. It was rare for both teams to have the same day off and we were going to take advantage of it.
When we got there, we greeted Axel and got to work helping set everything up. We put chairs out, beach blankets laid down, we got the grill and volley ball net set up and finally brought the coolers down from our cars.
Sean made us lather on sunscreen saying he was a doctor and didn't want to see us at the hospital because we ended up with Sun poisioning. I rolled my eyes but did as he asked.
"So how's Kayli?" Sean asked as we sat down to relax while we waited on everyone else to get here.
"About that.... We actually wanted to talk to you about something."
"What?" Sean asked curiously.
"We need a place to stay and thought you might help us out. Just until this whole thing blows over and she leaves."
"What happened? I thought things were good with all of you." I asked.
I would never admit it but I was jealous of their relationship. Not because of who they were dating but because my team wanted the kind of relationship they had. I wasn't a fan of their girlfriend but it looked like the Toma team was happy so I tolerated her.
"For the past year she hasn't been herself. She snuck off for a few weeks leaving her phone and anything else that we could use to track her. When she came back she was different.
"She threw fits when we had to leave on assignment. She got into a fight with a girl from the Daniels team because we had to do an assignment with her and Kayli found out. We almost failed.
"She's been trying to hurt Raven and Corey by telling them they are disgusting for being together. She gave them an ultimatum a few weeks ago. Either their relationship or her. She's trying to pin us against each other.
"She also broke Kevin and Mindy up. He's wanting to leave the team. He's been wanting us to break up with Kayli but he's been seeing her himself. It's a messed up situation and I'm ready for it to be over. We all are. Kevin isn't the same. We think both of them are hooked on that new drug that we've been assigned to getting rid of."
I was shocked. Why hadn't he come to us sooner? We would have helped them any way we could.
"Wow." Was all Sean said. I had to agree with him.
"Yea." Axel sighed. "We will give you each a favor. We are just out of options at this point."
"No. We don't need favors from you. We consider you family. Anything you need."
"Thanks."
We talked for a little while longer making plans for when they came to stay. It was easy enough as we had enough rooms for all of them to stay in. He just needed to talk to his team and decide when they were going to leave.
Just as I was about to ask him a question about the plan, Sean moved making me look over. Sang had snuck up on him and covered his eyes with her tiny hands.
"If these hands don't belong to my Pookie, I'm going to hit whoever you are." Sean smiled.
When Sang giggled it was like music to my ears. He pulled her over his shoulder and sat her on his lap.
When she said that this was her first time at the beach, I wasn't surprised. I was also glad we could give her this.
North came and stole her from Sean. He took her to the shore and I watched with a small smile as the played around. She was changing North. Not in a bad way but she was bringing out a soft side that none of us have ever seen.
