The day was off to a terrific start. As soon as I had woken up, I gathered Thomas, Minho, and Frypan, Newt's closest friends. They were thrilled to see Newt, but didn't mention any details about his episode. I actually informed them of my lie and they seemed it was right. Everyone was glad to see Newt, Thomas especially, they took the day off to explore the island and have some time together. I didn't mind though, Brenda and Sonya kept me company. All through the day I met more and more people. Aris, a young boy with bright green eyes caught my eye immediately. He seemed rather familiar, like I had met him before. But it felt like I had met him in a dream, it was déjà vu again.
I spent the rest of my time with Minho, who was busy running up and down the beach. My job was of timing him each lap, and with each of those laps he got faster and more confident.

"Lap six, 5:03!" I yelled to him.

Minho threw his arms in the air in victory and screamed," Yes! Fastest runner in the glade!"

"This isn't the glade Minho!" I shouted, stating the obvious.

He shrugged his shoulders and jogged to me, planting his sweaty body next to mine. I put away the timer and listened to Minho catching his breath.

"You don't think Newt will find out what really happened, do you?" I was filled with guilt and worry ever since I told Newt a story.

"If anything, he should be thankful." This caught me by surprise, and I was a bit confused. Minho continued, looking straight at me. "Listen slinthead, you've saved his life, twice now, might I add. And even if he did find out, what would he do? Complain about how he isn't worth anything?"

I was shocked at how accurate Minho was with Newt. Had Minho experienced something similar with Newt? He must've understood my confusion, but hesitated to start again.

"It's pretty upsetting, what I'm about to tell you. Don't go around asking questions either, it's a sensitive topic." I nodded my head, silently urging Minho to continue. "Back in the glade, when Newt first came up, he did something. I found him in the maze one morning, while I was running it, and I found him on the ground. He was covered in his blood and his ankle was twisted unnaturally. I didn't ask what happened, I just...knew."

I didn't understand what Minho was trying to say, it was a bunch of jumbled sentences and missed details.

"I suppose Newt didn't feel right, in the head, ya know? The way I found him couldn't have been a griever attack. And it came to me, when I looked at his twisted ankle, that he jumped off the wall." Minho was looking away from me now. I couldn't find the right words. What was I supposed to say?

Minho suddenly changed moods, and was now waving to someone behind me. I turned to see Newt and Thomas jogging to us, covered in sweat and sand.

"Hey guys! Enjoyed yourselves?" Minho greeted.

"Hell yeah, I beat this shank in a race." Newt said proudly.

"You had a head start." Thomas muttered bitterly, but amusement laced in his voice.

"What were you guys doing?" Newt asked, propping himself against Thomas, his arm resting on Thomas's shoulder.

"I was timing Minho's laps."

"I'm at 5:03." Minho said, smirking at the two boys proudly.

Thomas nodded his head and said before running off towards the camp," I bet you can't beat me."

Minho and Newt chased after Thomas in a hurry to beat him in the race, however, I stayed far behind. Maybe lying was the best thing to do.
