Everyone gasped when they heard a loud thud coming from the roof of the hotel.
"What was that?" Aaron asked, getting up.
"Oh, no worries!" Lucinda jumped to her feet. "It's probably the potion bubbling and the cauldron is wobbling. Happens all the time."
"Ok." Aaron sat back down and Aphmau snuggled up against his chest.
"I'll go check on it." She rushed upstairs, heading to the rooftop. She gasped, covering her mouth when she saw Zane laying there. "You're here!"
"I did it..." He whispered.
"It's ok, you're safe." Lucinda helped Zane to a lounge chair, easing him onto it.
"Thank you..."
"Don't thank me yet, I'm not finished." She looked over her shoulder to make sure no one had followed her. "It's almost midnight. I'll be back, don't move."
Zane nodded and Lucinda ran downstairs to the room she stayed in.
