If Jennie had to pick one word to describe Asian Artist Award it would be; bittersweet. It wasn't like Jennie couldn't let go of small mistakes it just that she always strive for perfection when it comes to performing. To say that she was disappointed was understandable at least she hoped others would.
The girls were especially nervous for the award as it was their first since debut. They were all satisfied with the outfits chosen and even for their songs choice to perform which wasn't even that hard considering they've only released four songs up to date.
Before the performance starts as they were in their position for Whistle, Jennie can't help but notice that BTS was in the front row. When she saw V, she couldn't help but felt shy as the memories from the photoshoot where they had to act like a couple came creeping back to her. She immediately gazes down to the floor in front of her when she locked eyes with him. "UGH! He caught me looking at him," she muttered under her breath.
During the performance, Jennie tried her hardest to focus but after her mic starts malfunctioning she just wanted the performance to end right away. Lisa was also trying her hardest to hold back her own tears. They were dissatisfied and disappointed with their own performance. When they went backstage Jisoo and Rosé with their managers and stylist gave both of them consolation.
When they were on their way back to their dressing room, they passed by BTS and just gave them a simple greeting. Taehyung stopped in his tracks when he saw Jennie. On the other hand, Jennie bowed a little and just pass by him before she felt a hand grabbed her forearm. She was shocked to see Taehyung and even Taehyung himself was shocked at his own actions.
He felt a blushed crept to his face and his voice stuck in his throat. Jennie was just staring at his feet, feeling embarrassed and unable to look at his face. She finally returned his gaze when she heard him say, "You did great. Your professionalism showed and people would praise you for that. Don't worry too much, mistakes are always bound to happen. And oh, good luck with the best new artists awards, I hope you guys will win."
Before Jennie could say anything, he had already run towards the stage to adjust his mic. When he saw Jennie was still staring at him, he gave her; his signature smile which brought a smile to her face and she continues her journey back to the dressing room. When she returned, a smile crept on her face. I could see him smiling every day. Wait, what am I saying ? He's an idol, Jennie. She mentally scolded herself.
When BTS had finished performing, Jungkook approached Taehyung and gave him a sly smile. "Why are you smiling at me? Am I that good looking ?" Taehyung teased. Jungkook just nodded playfully and sang "BLACKPINK in your area." The rest of the members just chuckled at the maknaes.
When BLACKPINK won the new artist award, BTS members stood up politely and clapped for their win. Jennie gave their thank you speech. When she seemed like she'd cried over joy, the fans shouted "don't cry Jennie-ah" which made Jennie replied back "Ahh noo I'm not crying" in the cutest voice which made Taehyung chuckled silently at her cuteness. She's so different. Cold and serious on stage yet warm and cute off stage. It made me want to know her more. But knowing how fans would react, it wouldn't be good. He thought silently.
He rested on his bed and scrolled through his private account when he saw an edited picture of him and Jennie. He was amazed by the editing that it seemed so real. The caption was, "Taennie, Some Korean fans spotted Taehyung and Jennie talked backstage but there's no evidence." There was a mixed reaction with the comments, some were positive like ; - they could be just friends. - they looked kinda cute together - omo the beginning of Taennie - omg can't an idol talked to one another without hate. the negative one was; -she's rude which is not suited to my Taehyung and many more but Taehyung just ignored the rest that was too much to read. He slept that night thinking about 'Taennie'. Which he later decided that he should focus on work instead and stop his desire to get to know Jennie more. At least for her sake.
