The Gilmore's are throwing Lorelai a celebratory dinner tonight for her college graduation. "Lorelai I've got your dress picked out and the makeup and hair stylist will be here in an hour." Emily told her excitedly. "Mom it's just a small dinner party why am I getting so dressed up?" Lorelai asked. "Well, I may have invited someone I would like you to meet." Emily admitted. "Mom, I told you I'm happy just me and Rory I don't need a man." Lorelai whined. "I know dear I just want you to meet him, he's about 8 years older than you and a widow." She said nonchalantly. "Mom I'm not going to graverob some woman's husband." Lorelai answered offended. "Do you have to be so crude? This man is a very good man, Lorelai he just graduated law school and has a four year old son. His wife died two years ago in a horrible car accident and he hasn't dated since." Emily tried explaining. "Fine if and that's a big if I find him in the least bit interesting I will go on one date with him, I promise nothing more than that." Lorelai finally agreed. "Thank you now let's get you ready." Emily gushed. A couple hours later Lorelai looked perfect and the party was about to begin. Lorelai walked down the stairs as the guests began to arrive. She noticed a very handsome man who looked a few years older than her. I wonder if that's him, he is Hot! She thought to herself. A little while later Emily whisked her up.  "Lorelai this is Andrew McRae, his family's law firm has been our lawyers for years and his father was a few years ahead of your father at Yale they're great friends." Emily introduced them. "Hello Andrew nice to meet you." Lorelai smiled and shook his hand. "Pleasure is mine Lorelai." He answered kissing her hand as she slightly blushed. "Would you like to sit and chat for a bit?" He asked pointing towards the couch in the sitting room. "Yes, that sounds good." She replied following him to the couch and sitting with him. "So Emily said you have a daughter?" He asked. "Yes, Rory, she's my life and my best friend." Lorelai gushed. "I feel the same way of my son. We got really close after my wife died when he was only two." He said. "I'm so sorry for your loss." Lorelai said. "Lets talk happier topics." He said. They spent the next while talking. She tells him about Rory and college and her dreams to open an Inn with Sookie. He tells her of his schooling and the law firm and Colin. They both also talk about their dreams and their goals in life. Before they realize it hours have passed and people are leaving. "Would you like to go to dinner with me sometime?" Andrew asks Lorelai. "Yes, that would be great." Lorelai answered. They exchanged phone numbers and planned on dinner within the week.
