Ch. 33 - DaCosta Cup Final⚽

I'm the luckiest nigga alive! I have such an amazing girlfriend! She's a motherfucking queen yo!

First she made me change my ways to be a better guy. Then she made me help my niggas change too. She made me experience love for the first time. She completed my life and my heart by being in it. She made me reconcile with my old friend. She made me whole again. I'm just so freaking happy. And excited.

My school made it to the final of DaCosta Cup. Maggotty High vs St Elizabeth Technical High(STETHS). Today is the final. I can't believe it. The Christmas term is almost over. The finals is being held at the Conventional Stadium in Montego Bay, St James.

My team worked very hard to reach the finals. Now that Akeem and I are friends again, our team is even stronger than before. We're going into the finals not just as a team but as a family. STETHS better watch out because we're coming for the win. DaCosta Cup will be ours this year.

I finished getting dressed then went downstairs. Dre was already ready and waiting on me to leave.

"Andre? Carru? I just want to say good luck", Mel said smiling at us.

"Thanks Mel", we said smiling at her.

"Boy's? Before you go, in case I don't reach the match before it start, I just want to say how proud I am of both of you. You're both winners to me no matter the outcome. I love you both. I wish you all the best", Aunt Donna said.

"Thank you Mom. I love you too", Andre said and she hugged him.

"Thank you Aunt and I love you too", I said and she hugged me.

"Okay now go before you get late", she said and we left.

When we got to school we saw that everyone one was already there.

"Carru. Andre. It's good you two are now here. We leave in five minutes", Coach said to us.

"Okay everyone gather around", Coach said and we did.

"Today is the day when you prove to everyone your greatest skills and abilities. You boys worked very hard to reach this far and I'm very proud of each and everyone of you. No matter what's the final score at the end of tonight's game, I will always be proud of you all. You have teamwork and everyone here is in good shape. Remember boys, teamwork and determination is the key to succeed in football games. I don't want you to go out there with the mentality of winning. I want you to go out there with the mentality of working cohesively and working together and that will make you guys successful tonight", Coach said in a commanding tone.

Coach is right. Teamwork is everything. After praying we started out on journey to St. James. After almost an hour and half of driving we reached the stadium.

The match was about to start so we lined up as a team and both team was introduced to the crowd along with the referees and assisting officials in the match.

The national anthem was played then I as the captain introduced every team member to the sponsor of the ISSA schoolboy football season. The coin was tossed by the head referee and I chose heads and the captain of the STETHS team chose tails. Heads won so I chose which goal I prefer. We shook hands took pics then join our respective teammates.

"Remember what coach said guys. We work as a team. Always have each others backs and stay focused. Got it?", I said.

"Aye Captain", they said. Then we scattered across the field to our positions.

That's when I saw Shena in the stands. When she saw me she waved at me and blew me a kiss. I just smiled at her. I'ma win this for you Shena.

Then the match kicked off.

95 minutes later ...

(The match ended)

The referee blew the whistle signaling the end of the match. The scoreline was Maggotty high 3 - STETHS 2. I can't believe it! We won! The crowd went wild and my teammates and I celebrated. We won DaCosta Cup!   Oh thank you God! I'm so happy right now!

"We did it bro! We won!" The boys cheered.

I look at my family in the crowd and they were happy. Shena was smiling at me.

The interviews started and I was called to be interviewed.

"We have here Carru Mitchell the captain of Maggotty High our DaCosta Cup winners this year. Carru how do you feel right now to have won D-Cup tonight?" Neville Bell a sports analyst asked.

"I'm elated, overwhelmed. I feel really happy", I answered.

"What was the plan going into tonight's game?" He asked.

"We just listened to our Coach. He told us to stay focused, work as a team and to just be determined and so that's what we did", I said.

"Alright. Congratulations on a well deserved victory tonight", he said.

"Thank you", I said then left.

After that it was the award ceremony. Our team went on stage and the DaCosta Cup was handed to me by the ISSA President. My team and I held the cup up in the air and celebrated. Everyone took pictures of us. It was a glorious moment.

After the award ceremony we greeted our family members. Shena was the first to greet me she ran to me and hugged me so I lift her up and spin her around.

"Congratulations baby! You were awesome!" She said laughing. That's the first time she called me baby.

"Thank you baby. I did this for you", I said smiling. Then we kissed.

"I love you", I said and she smiled.

"Congratulations honey. You were awesome", Aunt said smiling at me.

"Thanks Aunt", I said.

We celebrated at the stadium for a while then I said goodbye to Aunt, Shena, Mel, Adrian, Brianna and Mr and Mrs Naire. I went back to St Elizabeth with the team and we celebrated all the way there.

I'm just so happy.

I know I haven't written the scene for the football match but I'm having writer's block on that part. I'm not good at writing football games so I'll update it when I get some ideas.
