it had been the next day and jughead was on his last initiation to prove his loyalty to the serpents the final test being the gauntlet the only problem was jughead had no idea what was in store for him until it was finally happening Alexa was giving her best friend a pep talk on what he was to expect of the humiliating task he had to experience
"ok jughead so the best way to get through this is to just keep conscience i guess" she nervously laughed "no but just keep on walking and if it gets to much just try your hardest because we both know sweet pea isn't going to hold back god i wish you dad was here to help you through this i'm no good at it" she ran her hands over her face and groaned jughead sat next to her on the couch and rubbed her back "you and me both he's the one who kept the peace and although your doing your best idiots like sweet pea think its all about violence" the queen nodded in agreement
"you can say that again he's the biggest idiot there is but hopefully you dad will be out sooner than we think" jughead looked away nervously and Alexa picked up on it "what did you do?" he shook his head "nothing" she laughed "jughead i've known you all my life i know when you hiding something now spill" he looked at her sadly "i went to snake charmer and she said she'd try to get my dad out for a small favour" she sighed then groaned again
"jug thats the one thing your father asked you specifically not to do and you went and did it FUCK" she stood up and punched a wall but not hard enough to leave a dent he quickly ran to her side to try and calm her she pushed him away "listen lexi i know what your thinking but i did it because like you said we need him so i tried to help the process along" "so you got into bed with the snakecharmer! do you know what this mea- hold up what was the favour?"
he played with his fingers as he looked up she looked at him sternly "jug what was it?" he then replied "a run for her me and archie did it" she yelled back "YOU DRAGGED ARCHIE INTO THIS" he nodded and she hit the wall again and began to walk out
"i'm not dealing with this bullshit good luck with your initiation bye" and she walked to the wyrm where the younger serpents stood preparing themselves for jugheads gauntlet she joined them and stood next to sweet pea "hey go easy on jones he's not as strong as us yet " he scoffed "if the opportunity is there im gonna take it" she laughed a little "your using your brass knuckles right?" he nodded "this is what i'm saying go a little easy on the kid you got it?" he replied with "yeah yeah we'll see how he goes" she walked away and over to toni
"hey Toni you ready to see jones be punched around" she looked at the temporary leader and said "ready as i'll ever be" Alexa laughed "well lets go then its starting to get dark " and with that she made her way back out the wyrm with everyone following until they reached their destination where jughead was waiting nervously
he came up to the girl "listen Alex-" she interrupted him "save it jones lets just get this over with so i can go to the wyrm and drown my sorrows" and then it all began
all the young male serpents lined up delivering hits one by one as he walked down it all while being punched in different places from his stomach to his face he stumbled back a few times before he finally got to the end of the line where sweet pea waited with a sickening smirk possessing his lips as the noise of knuckles cracking could be heard over jugheads heavy breathing metal glinted in the moonlight from sweet peas brass knuckles and with one swift movement his fist collided with his victims face Alexa stared in anticipation as it was building
and with that jughead fell to the floor and Alexa feared her bestfriend had just failed becoming a serpent she shouted "come on jug get up" the words of encouragement seemed to work because he stood up slowly hauling himself from the floor as if it was a chore but he still did it and panted as he breathlessly said "is that you got" Alexa walked towards him with the serpent jacket as sweet pea shook his new 'family member' as a congratulations and Alexa handed him his jacket
she held up his hand in hers and shouted "i give you the new prince of the southside" everyone cheered and hollered she hugged her friend and mumbled into his shoulder "thats my best friend"
