"He tore them apart and tried to put them back together" Lucius mumbled, breathing heavily. I could see the pain that ran through his veins even if tried to hide it. "We were supposed to go the beach for my birthday. I didn't even get to say goodbye."

A small tear fell off of his cheek onto the napkin, spreading the ink around in the small pool. I never thought I would see the devil cry.

No matter how much hatred I had for him, I couldn't help but feel his pain.

"He's married now to a police officer, ironic since all he does in crime. Has three kids, two step-kids from her previous marriage, treats them like shit. An R&D manager, best in New York" His voice cracked, reciting the all-to-familiar life of Kurt Drake.

I stood from the chair, walking to the door. I had no interest to hear any more of his past life and his revenge plan.

"Eliza? Where are you going?" He jumped from his own chair, running to me with question plastered on his face. "Did I say something?"

I nodded my head with a small frown.

Lucius stepped in front of me, holding his arm out in front of me. "I'm sorry but please...stay, just a little bit longer." He had looked desperate for comfort, something that I couldn't provide for him.

"We don't have to talk. Silence - silence is fine."

We stood in the position for what felt like years. He had broken down into a complete mess and to leave him alone was a dangerous plan in itself but I had no want to stay.

I nodded again, closing the solder door. A small smile appeared on his face as he watched me sit back down in the chair, his soft, ocean eyes never leaving mine.

There was something different about him, he actually cared about something and it showed. He was vulnerable and I, for once, couldn't help but feel bad for him. For someone who was unfazed by death, he sure hated.

There was nothing but the still silence, the only noise that filled the room had been his heavy breathing. He had often gazed in my direction, pretending that he wasn't looking at me. My legs had been pulled to my chest, my head resting on my knees for support.

The silence was bliss, a peaceful getaway from my reality.

There was a knock at the door, causing Lucius and me to both jump. He had almost seemed disappointed.

"Come in" He growled, opening a folder on his desk that made him seem like he was doing work.

A man walked in ready to speak, he glanced in my direction biting his tongue.

"Whatever you need to say, you can say it in front of her."

The man nodded turning back to Lucius, he had seemed pleased to read off of the clipboard that he held in his arms. "We found him."
