4-Who Was That?

Jade's POV

I opened the door to my apartment and stepped in.

I closed the door behind me and threw my things on the couch.

It's been a stressful day.

Why would anyone have a grudge against Jax?

With what I gathered he seems like a nice guy.

Maybe he was just exaggerating.

Maybe that sniper really was random.

I collapsed on the couch.

I grabbed my phone and looked at the time.

Barely one in the afternoon.

I groaned and plopped my head on the couch.

My phone began to ring.

I answered it without looking at the caller ID.

"Yeah?"

"Jade!" A familiar voice screamed.

I had to pull the phone away from my ear.

"Hi, dad."

"Why did I get a call from the chief of police?"

"It's nothing dad. I was at a coffee shop and there was a sniper."

"That's not nothing! You could have gotten killed!"

"You don't have to worry so much about me."

"Yes, I do. You know we both have enemies.

"But they don't know where I am."

"You don't know that."

"They were not even after me."

"Then who were they after."

"A guy named Jax Baden sat with me the sniper was after him for some reason."

"Wait? Baden?"

"Yeah. Do you know him?"

"Honey get on your laptop and search Baden."

"I can't. It broke at the café."

"Baden is a family company." He said.

"So what?"

"That guy you met is the CEO of one of the country's biggest companies. Lot's of people are after him."

"How have I not know about this?"

"He's only been the CEO for about a year."

"That's enough time for me to know about it."

"You have been hiding out."

I sighed. "You're right."

I saved a CEO.

And I didn't know about it.

That's why he was so secretive about your last name.

"I meant to call you yesterday, How did your interview go?" He changed the subject.

"Really bad."

"Did you kill someone?" He asked casually.

"No, but I did slam someone onto their desk."

"Why Jadey? You need to keep your temper under control."

"I know, and this time I was doing good until he hit on me."

"What did he say?"

"He said the only way he'd hire me is if I'd sleep with him. So I threatened to break his legs."
