The road to a safer future will have to be paved with pebbles of righteousness cemented together with a strong faith in moral character.
Maybe it's time idle talks gave way to bold actions,
Sessions resulted in laws that brought peace to nations,
A child wasn't afraid of evils like molestation,
Dreams weren't crushed even before they entered gestation.
I crave for a world where a new weapon isn't added each day,
Where leaders don't threaten wars without bothering about the chaos it will bring in its wake,
Where we don't need to increase our military budget each year,
Where together we put an end to all kinds of fear.
I wish for a world where I longer hear incidents of brutal murder,
Where a girl isn't held back for fear of being robbed of her honour,
Where the LGBTQ community has all the rights it rightfully deserves,
Where the darkness or the late hour of the night has no jurisdiction over my actions.
Let this world usher in an era of tolerance and peace,
Where voices aren't eternally silenced; right to speech isn't breeched,
Where safety doesn't remind me of just my home but every inch of this world,
Where I don't need four walls and a lock to let myself feel protected.
Where animals enjoy all the rights any living being must,
Where they don't live in fear of being caged, where in humanity they can place their trust,
Where a plant doesn't fear being wiped off from the face of the earth by one stroke of an axe,
Where all beings live in harmony, without threatening the other's race.
As I walk on the path that wounds to my house,
I realise it's a long road I've been thinking about,
A road that would require the cooperation of entire mankind,
Together, the solutions of all problems we'll find.
In this process, we shall never despair,
For it is our duty and responsibilty to repair
The road we so carelessly allowed to be slowly destroyed,
Let's promise humanity – it shall no more be toyed.
