lucas strummed on his guitar lightly as he closed his eyes, allowing the slight vibrations from the strings to resonate through his entire body. bela, sitting next to lucas on the floor, stared at him, a calming smile instinctively washing over her face.
his lips twitched upwards slightly. "you know, they say taking a picture lasts longer," lucas suddenly chirped in, a hint of cockiness and sarcasm laced in his tone.
bela quickly turned her head just as he opened his eyes, glancing at her with a smirk on his face. "oh, so now you look away?"
she rolled her eyes. "shut up, zumann. since when did you get so arrogant?" she sarcastically questioned.
"oh, well it's this new move i'm trying called being a douche. apparently girls love it when boys are rude and condescending to them," he responded in a mocking tone.
her eyes widened sarcastically as she said, "oh, is that so? interesting." he nodded his head in response, and she chuckled. "well then, if that's the case, why haven't i fallen for your bad boy charms yet?" she said.
"because you're just immune to everyone," lucas replied nonchalantly.
"maybe i have a reason to be," she commented lowly, and realizing the weight of her words, her face dropped immediately. he awkwardly coughed, letting silence fill the room. "i'm sorry. that got deep," she said, uncomfortably laughing to ease the situation.
he shook his head. "it's okay." he reached over, placing his hand on hers and feeling the heat from her skin immediately warm up his own. they both slightly jolted at the interaction, but it was too subtle for either one to notice.
realizing she had been staring for too long, she cleared her throat awkwardly, looking back up at him. tapping lightly on his guitar, she said, "play me another song, pretty boy."
