I nearly drop the phone when she says her name. I barely manage to say, "Hello, Jihyun."

Jackson pops his head into the door. "Hey, I forgot to ask. What dressing do you have for the salad?"

I can hear the anger in Jihyun's voice when she asks, "Is that Hanbin?"

"No, it's not. It's just a friend, one second." I pull my phone away from my ear and reply to Jackson, "I think Ranch and maybe Italian. I'll go check."

He nods and goes back to grilling the chicken while I head back over to the fridge. I press my phone back to my ear just as Jihyun says, "I bet you're wondering why I've called."

"Yes, I am." I open the fridge and begin looking for the dressings.

"You've forgotten our agreement. You were supposed to break it off with Hanbin."

"No, I tried to get away. He came to me asking to work it out, though. This is not my fault."

"So, you didn't agree to go to the awards ceremony with him?"

"As a matter of fact, I didn't. My manager accepted that offer. I had our managers working on breakup reports, okay? I want this to be over, too. But we can't. If you want us to breakup, you can talk to our managers."

"You have one choice, Soojin. If you go to that awards ceremony with him, I will make you regret it."

I'm about to answer, but she hangs up before I can. Frustrated, I throw my phone on the counter and sigh, tears starting to well up in my eyes. At that moment, Jackson walks back in from the patio. I try to quickly wipe my eyes and keep my head down, still looking for the dressings.

"Hey, the chicken is grilled." I hear him set the plate on the counter before sitting down on one of the bar stools.

"Thank you." I smile at him quickly before grabbing the salad dressings and setting them on the counter.

"Hey, what's wrong?" he asks.

I sigh, knowing he'll report back to Jooheon. "It's nothing, Jack."

"Oh, there's something. Come on, what's going on? Is it Hanbin? Is that who was on the phone?"

I shake my head and rest my hands on the counter, making eye contact with him. "No, not Hanbin. At least, not exactly."

"Oh, I bet it's the girlfriend, isn't it? Jooheon told me to be sure she didn't cause issues while he was gone."

"Of course he did." I take the plate of grilled chicken and cut it up into smaller slices. Then, I throw it in the bowl along with the lettuce and other veggies.

"Soojin, really, was it her?"

I stop for a second and look down at the salad. As I finally add the strawberries, I slowly nod my head. "Yes. She's upset that Hanbin and I are still together."

"Yeah, most of us are, sweetie." He rolls his eyes. "Have you told her that it's against your will?"

"Yes."

"And?"

I grab two small bowls from the cabinet and set them down on the counter in front of Jackson. "She threatened me again."

"What do you mean? What did she say?"

"She just told me not to go to the awards ceremony tomorrow or I would regret it."

Jackson sighs. Then, he looks up at me as I set the salad bowl in front of him and grab silverware from a drawer. "You're going."

I raise an eyebrow. "Of course."
